Water Festival at Kifune Shrine

This time, I would like to introduce the water festival at Kyoto Kifune Shrine.
From JR Kyoto Station, transfer to the Nara Line, transfer to the Keihan train at Tofukuji, get off at Demachiyanagi,take the Eizan Electric Railway Kurama Line, get off at Kifuneguchi, take the Kyoto Bus, get off at Kifune Shrine, and walk for 6 minutes to Kifune Shrine.



The water festival starts at 10:00 on July 7th.
The Water Festival is derived from the ancient rain begging ritual and is a festival that prays for rain and the blessings of sunny weather.
After the tea dedication ceremony, a dance performance is performed, and a knife ceremony is performed.
Enjoy the strict festival.




Irises of Kyoto Umemiya Taisha Shrine

This time, I would like to introduce the irises of Kyoto Umemiya Taisha.


From JR Kyoto Station, take city bus line 28 and get off at Umemiya Taisha-mae, then walk north for 3 minutes to reach Umemiya Taisha.

The best time to see irises is from late May to early June.
Admire the 8,000 irises.



Azalea of Nagaoka Tenmangu

This time, I would like to introduce the azaleas of Nagaoka Tenmangu Shrine in Nagaokakyo City, Kyoto Prefecture.



From Osaka Umeda, take the Hankyu train, get off at Nagaoka Tenjin Station, exit the west exit of the station, and walk west along Tenjin Street for about 10 minutes to reach Nagaoka Tenmangu Shrine.

The large white torii gate is a landmark. It can be seen at the Hachijogaike Nakatsumi in Nagaoka Tenmangu Shrine.
The best time to see it is late April.
The 100 Kirishima azaleas that bloom on the middle bank bloom bright red flowers.
Enjoy the vivid azaleas.


Okazaki Sakura Corridor Jukkoku Boat Tour

This time, I would like to introduce the Okazaki Sakura Corridor Ten Stone Boat Tour.


From JR Kyoto Station, take the Karasuma Subway Line, then change to the Tozai Subway Line at Karasuma Oike Station and get off at Keage Station. 
After a 7-minute walk, you will arrive at the Okazaki Nanzenji Boat Reservoir Okazaki Jukkoku Boat and Boarding Point.

The Jukkoku boat will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from March 20 to April 14.
I think it is better to ride at the end of March - the beginning of April, when the cherry blossoms are in bloom.
Two boats run every 15 minutes on the beautiful waters lined with cherry blossom trees.
The boarding fee is 2,000 yen for adults.
We will tour the area around Okazaki Park in the spring season.
Admire the cherry blossoms looking up from the boat.




Sink chicks at Shimogamo Shrine

This time, I would like to introduce you to the Ryu Hina of Shimogamo Shrine.

Take the city bus from Kyoto Station, get off in front of Shimogamo Shrine, and arrive at Shimogamo Shrine immediately.
The Hinamatsuri at Shimogamo Shrine is a Shinto ritual in which the dolls "Sandawara" placed on woven straw are poured into the Mitarashi River, which flows through the precincts, and pray for the safety of children.
It will be held from 10:00 on 3/3 according to the following schedule.
10:00 Reception for Hina dolls begins
10:30 Prayer begins
11:00 Ceremony of shedding chicks by the inner lining and chicks in Heian     
   costumes
11:45 Sink chicks by the general public
