Bicycle trip at Echizen city in Fukui prefecture

I would like to inform Echizen city.

I ride JR Limited express from Osaka to Tsuruga, change train to Takefu station.
I rent a Bicycle.



I go to west few minutes, arrive at Kura-no-Tsuji.


This area has many white warehouse.
Kura-no-Tsuji was a merchandise warehouse area at Edo period.
Nowadays old warehouses and wooden houses are rebuilt for a new event space for Echizen city.
Cofee shops, restaurants, souvenir shops are existing.
Please relax and feel Edo period.

Next I go to Shogakuji Temple.


This temple was built at 1366 by Ryounyo shonin.
Gate is using New Zenkoji castle's gate.
It is wonderful.

Next I go to southwest to Murasakishikibu park.


This park has for Murasakishikibu, who is a writer of Genji Monogatari.
She was living at this city at Heian period for some years.

This park has a wide area and beautiful Japanese garden.
It is available to wear JyuniHitoe Kimono.
When you wear JyuniHitoe, you can feel Heian period.

Next I go to south to Echizen cutlery Hall.

This hall has many cutlerys and cutlery history.
When you reserve a seeing work house, you can see a how to make a cutlery.


Finaly I go to Washinosato-park.

At Papyrus house, I try to make a post card of Washi paper.
Makinig 4 postcards is 800yen.
Making post crads is nly 30minutes.
I can make a original postcards.



Please visit Echizen city, and feel Edo period.

Kuniyoshi castle ruin in Fukui Mimama town

I would like to inform Kuniyoshi castle ruin in Fukui Mimama town.



I ride JR Kosei-Line from Kyoto to Tsuruga.
I can see beautiful Lake Biwa.

I change train at Tsuruga to Mihama station.

I rent a bicycle at Mihama station.
I go to History Museum of Wakasa Kuniyoshi Castle Ruin.


This museum entrance charge is only 100yen.
This museum has Samurai house, Kuniyoshi castle history, Yoroi and Kabuto.
When you see Video, you can understand Kuniyoshi castle.



I climb castle road.


Till Honmaru ruin, I climb 30minutes.
Some positions of climbing road are steep.

After climbing 15minutes, I arrive at Ninomaru ruin.

After climbing steep road, then I arrive at Honmaru Ruin.
This ruin area is big.


Kuniyoshi Castle was built at 1556 by Katsuhisa-Awaya.
This castle is near Echizen country, Asakura clain attack this Castle.
This castle battle Asakura and win this war.

At the Honmaru ruin, many digging points, because some university survey this castle ruin.
Digged points are covered vinyl sheet.
From Honmaru ruin, Mihama town and Japan sea are seen, wonderful.
Wonderful view brake my climbing tiredness.

Next I go to Wakasa Bay.
Big sand coast is seen.

I go to West to Mikata-5 lakes.
Many Marine bikes are seen.


When you have a time, please ride pleasure cruise.

Thus sighseeing needs 5 hours.
