Yasui Konpiragu at south of Gion in Kyoto

I would like to inform Yasui Konpiragu at south of Gion in Kyoto.


I get off at GionShijyo of Keihan train.
I walk east to Hanami-Koji street.
Go south of Hanami-Koji, end of this street turn left, and at 2nd street turn right.
Soon Torii gate of Yasui shrine is seen.

Yasui Konpiragu is built by Goshirakawa Jyoko.
I enter from north gate.

Two small shrines are seen.
These are hair cutter shrines.

Go south, arrive at Hall of worship and main shrine.


I pray here.

I turn main shrine, arrive at Kushi Mound.

Kushi Mound is Comb Mound.
Comb festival is held at September, this mound for warehouse for keeping used combs.

Comb is for hair good, so many Hair Beauticians worship this Shrine.

Go south from Hall of worship, Big stone for Divorce and marriage is seen.



Bills with wishes are pasted on the Stone.
How to pray
1.Pray main shrine.
2.Enter over 100yen to shrine bill.
3.Draw the bad match on the left side of the bill, and the good match on the right side, and your name on the back.
4.Hanging the bill and having your wish, pass through a stone hole from frontside.
5.Hanging the bill and having your wish, pass through a stone hole from backside.
6.Put the bill on the stone with glue.

Stone holl size is appropriate size for adult man throwing.

It is a good chance for getting good match for marriage.
Please throw the stone.

Nagoshi no Ooharae is held at June 30 from 18:00.

Ooharae is done 2 times per year, Nagoshi no Ooharae is first time Ooharae.

Chinowa is set in front of Hall of worship at Nagoshi no Ooharae
When you pass through Chinowa, your unclean will be cleaned．


Minazuki cake is famous for June cake.
This cake is made of Uiro and red beans.

Yasui Konpiragu is famous for 'Cut a bad natch, Get a good match.'
After going Gion, please visit Yasui Konpiragu.

Izumishikibu's Buddhist memorial ceremony in Kyoto

I would like to inform Izumishikibu's Buddhist memorial service, that are caled Kyoto summer event.


I ride Hankyu train from Osaka Umeda to Kyoto Kawaramachi.
I walk north from Kawaramachi station.
After 12 minutes walking, I arrive at Seiganji Temple.

Seiganji temple is built in Nara at 667, moved to Shinkyogoku Kyoto 1591.
This temple is Jyodoshu religion.

Izumishikibu's Buddhist memorial service is held at June 18 at Seiganji Temple.

Entrance charge is free.

This Buddhist memorial service is for celebrating Izumishikibu.
Izumishikibu lived at Seiganji Temple at Heian period.
The Izumi Shikibu Buddhist memorial service , Noh is dedicated.

Izumishikibu's Buddhist memorial service
Amida-Nyorai that is 4.9m height Buddha statue, 5 monks are lined in front of Amida-Nyorai.




Buddhist scriptures is done about 20 minutes.

Next is Lecture " Izumi Shikibu in the Hyakunin Isshu that is Poem card game."


Noh and Maijishi for "Seiganjj temple" are dedicated.

To understand this events is difficult for general people.
But you can see Noh without charge.

Hydrangea Temple trip at Koda town in Aichi pref.

I would like to inform Honkoji Hydrangea temple trip.

I ride JR train from Nagoya to Sangane.
I go northeast 10 minutes, arrive at Honkoji Temple.


This temple established at 1523, official name is Zuiunji Temple.

This temple is called Hydrangea Temple.
Many Hydrangeas are planted in this temple.

From June, many Hydrangeas are fullbloomed.

Hydrangea blossoms of the approach up to the temple gate are beautiful.



I go to East Byosho.
There are many grooves of Matsudaira clan.


Next I go to Shoeido red temple.
It has a groove of 5th Matsudaira clan.
Red temple near red temple is wonderful.

Over the Shoeido temple, big Turtle statue is seen.
This turtle is famouse for granting a wish.

Next I go to main temple, that has temple bell.


This temple has many stone steps, it is painful for silver people.


Please visit this temple, and enjoy Hydrangea blossom.
