Naegi Castle at Nakatsugawa city Aichi pref.

I would like to inform Naegi Castle ruin near Kiso Rinver.


I get off at JR Nakatsugawa station, go north.
I walk along Kiso river west, Naegi castle is seen top of the mountain.


From the mountain, 48 turning road is the climbing road.

This road is steep but short distance to this castle.


I climb this road, some stone walls are seen along this road.
About 20minutes walking, arrive at the entrance of this castle.

Big park is seen, there is a big stone statue of Naegi Castle Ruine.

This castle was built at the top of the mountain.
Honmaru, Tenshukaku are built on the rock.
This castle was built at middle of 16century by Toyama clan.

From Daimon gate, I walk to Tenshukaku.


After Watakura gate, Nakatsugawa city town are seen.


Next is Sakashita gate.

From left side, over all sky view of this castle is seen.

It is wonderful.

After Hishiromon gate, turn right, Sengoku well is seen.
This well has lots of water for thousand people.


Next is weapon warehouse.

Soon Tenshukaku is seen at left side.

Climb left side, Tenshukaku park is seen.


There is a stone statue of Naegi Castle Ruine.

Over the big rock, wooden obsevatory is set.
2nd floor is observatory.
From this, wide view of Kiso river and Nakatsugawa city is fantastical.


This observatory height is same as Tenshukaku 3rd floor.
We can see a same view as Tenshukaku view.

South area of Tenshukaku has some stone walls.

I go down the castle, Shimizu gate and Humei gate are seen.

Then return to Daimon gate.

I go to north area.
There is Oyagura Ruine, with Toyama clan flag, that is red circle and 2 red lines.


Next I go to Naegi Toyama museum.

About 7 minutes walking, I arrive at this museum.

Entrance fee is 350yen.
There is a big Naegi castle model.

That is very precise, we can understand this overall castle structure.
1F has 12 castle lords, armor, letters etc.
2F has Naegi area at Meiji period.

I visit many castle ruins.

Naegi castle is characterized castle, that is built over the rocks and is available to see a wide view of Kiso river and Nakatsugawa city.
