This time we will introduce the Biwako Museum built on the shores of Lake Biwa in Kusatsu City, Shiga Prefecture, renewed this July 6.

Get off at Kyoto station from JR Kusatsu station on Tokaido Main Line, get on the Omi Railway bus for about 25 minutes, get off at the Biwako Museum bus stop, arrive at the Biwako Museum.

The museum is two stories high and enters from the first floor.
First, it is a discovery room.
Here is an area where children and adults can learn and discover through experiences using the five senses.
A huge crayfish model makes it possible for children to jump into the abdomen or move scissors.

Next is a tunnel aquarium that reproduced offshore of Lake Biwa.

You can see from freshwater fish such as Huna · Mass · Koi to Eel / Catfish.
Inside the tunnel tank, you can listen to "the sounds the fish are listening to", as if walking in the water of Lake Biwa.

Next I will head to the Aquarium Exhibition Room.
You can see the pool where ancient fish swim.

The whole body skeleton in the front is the fossil of the Yellow River Elephant, and the lower right is the skull fossil of Mie Elephant.

In the B exhibition room on the 2nd floor, there is a Maruko ship, the leading ship role
in the Edo period.

It is a wooden ship with a size of 100 masonry (rice bale of 250 bale).
In addition to this, you can learn how to fish Lake Biwa, the lives of fishermen, deep ties of people.

In the museum restaurant on the 1st floor, "Niho no Umi", you can taste the dishes with local ingredients from Shiga Prefecture, such as the bus bowork ¥ 930 using Lake Biwa's black bus.
