もしかしたら縄文時代の記憶？

学校では歴史を習いますが

日本で言えば

石器時代から縄文時代

そして弥生時代から古墳時代

そんな感じで習って行きます

古墳時代以前は多分専門家は先史時代と言うんでしょうね

文字の記述がありませんから歴史と言っても考古学に頼るしかありません

まぁだからでしょうね。

私たちは奈良時代と平安時代からはたくさんの事を学びますが

縄文時代は土器とか磨製石器とか竪穴式住宅

まぁせいぜいその程度の知識しかありません。

その程度の知識で試験は通りますからね

どうしてもそうなるのです。

ですから日本史と言っても

どうしても縄文時代はほんの僅か

そんな風にイメージしがちですが

でもこれは大間違いです。

時間単位で見れば

私たち日本の歴史はほぼ縄文時代の歴史です。

弥生時代から現代まではおそらく2400年前後だと思いますが

縄文時代は14000年も続いていますからね。

そう言えるわけです。

文字での記録が残って無いからどうしても軽く扱われますが

本当はこの時代が日本の歴史の大半

って訳です。

まぁだからどうなの？

って言われると

別に学者の皆さんに盾突いてる訳ではありません

またそれだけの知識もありません

今日語りたいことは

私が６８歳になって

ますます自分の内面に強く湧いてくる欲求

これが私たち縄文時代の歴史と何か関係がある

どうもそんな気がするのです。

どんな欲求かと言えば

例えば私は最近youtubeで

山奥の空き家を買って暮らしてる

そんな動画を良く見ます。

水も山から引いて

食事も木を燃やして作る

今の私たちからすれば大変不便な生活ですが

にも関わらず

なぜかその生活に強く惹かれるのです。

まぁそんな人は実際には少ないのも知れませんが

私はそんな動画いくら見ても飽きません

でふと思った訳です。

もしかしたら

14000年も続いた縄文時代の生活

これが私たちの遺伝子には刻まれてるのかも知れない

と

もちろん科学者に言わせれば

遺伝子は記憶を引き継ぐものではない

って事で終りますが

遺伝子でなくても

何か遠い先祖の生活が

自分の体のどこかに残ってる

強く感じます。

残念ながら私自身には許されませんが

もし私が独り身であったら

明日からでもやんばるの田舎で自給自足生活

しますね

ですから

最近ネットでたくさん出て来る地方の空き家は

私にとっては本当に憧れの家です。

私は都心のタワマンとか豪邸とか

全く興味はありません。

沢の水を引いて

窯で火を焚き

ガジマルの下で昼寝

そんな生活が出来たらどんなに素晴らしいんだろう

って思いますね。

私みたいな人間にとっては

今溢れてる地方の空き家は宝の山です。

日本人の大半は見向きもしませんが

もしかしたら外国人の方たちは

私と同じような人間が多いかも知れませんからね。

そんな人が押し寄せて来る前に

お金に余裕があったら

安い空き家

老後のために買っておいても良いかも知れません。

 

 

 

We learn Japanese history at school,

it goes from the Stone Age to the Jomon Period,

and from the Yayoi Period to the Kofun Period.

Before the Kofun Period, experts would probably call it prehistoric.

Since there were no written records, we had no choice but to rely on archaeology for history. That's probably why.

We learn a lot from the Nara and Heian Periods,

but from the Jomon Period,

we only know about pottery, ground stone tools, and pit dwellings.

That's the extent of our knowledge.

You can pass exams with that level of knowledge, so that's how it is.

So when we talk about Japanese history,

we tend to think that the Jomon Period is only a small part of it,

but this is a big mistake.

If we look at it in terms of time, our Japanese history is almost entirely the history of the Jomon Period.

I think it's probably around 2,400 years from the Yayoi Period to the present day,

but the Jomon Period lasted for 14,000 years.

That's how it can be said.

Since there are no written records, it's inevitably treated lightly,

but in reality, this period is the majority of Japanese history.

What I want to talk about today is that now that I'm 68 years old,

I feel a strong desire growing inside me,

and I feel like it has something to do with our Jomon history.

What kind of desire is it?

For example, I've been watching a lot of videos on YouTube lately of people buying vacant houses deep in the mountains and living there.

They draw water from the mountains,

and cook their meals by burning wood.

It's a very inconvenient lifestyle for us today,

but for some reason,

I'm strongly drawn to that lifestyle.

Well, there may not actually be many people like me,

but I never get bored of watching such videos,

and that's what got me thinking.

Maybe the life of the Jomon period, which lasted for 14,000 years, is engraved in our genes.

Of course, scientists would say that genes don't pass on memories, but even if it's not genes, I strongly feel that the life of our distant ancestors remains somewhere in my body.

Unfortunately, I can't be allowed it,

but if I were single,

 I would start living a self-sufficient life in the Yanbaru countryside starting tomorrow.

That's why the vacant houses in rural areas that have been appearing a lot on the internet recently are truly my dream homes.

I have no interest in high-rise apartments or mansions in the city.

I think it would be wonderful to draw water from a stream,

light a fire in a kiln,

and take a nap under a banyan tree.

For people like me, the vacant houses in rural areas that are overflowing now are a treasure trove.

Most Japanese people don't even look at them,

 but there may be many foreigners like me.

If you have the money,

it might be a good idea to buy a cheap vacant house for your retirement before those foreigners start flocking to them
