申命記２９章

これらは、主がホレブでイスラエルの子孫達と結ばれた契約の傍ら、モアブの地でイスラエルの子孫達と結ぶようにモーセに命じた契約の言葉です。
These are the words of the covenant which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb
1 これは、モアブの地で、主がモーセに命じて、イスラエル人と結ばせた契約のことばである。ホレブで彼らと結ばれた契約とは別である。

モーセは全イスラエルに呼びかけ、彼らに言いました。
あなたがたは、エジプトの地で、パロとそのすべての家来とその全土に、あなたがたの目の前で主がなさったすべてのことを見ました。
And Moses called unto all Israel and said unto them Ye have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh and unto all his servants and unto all his land
2 モーセは、イスラエルのすべてを呼び寄せて言った。あなたがたは、エジプトの地で、パロと、そのすべての家臣たちと、その全土とに対して、主があなたがたの目の前でなさった事を、ことごとく見た。

The great temptations which thine eyes have seen the signs and those great miracles
3 あなたが、自分の目で見たあの大きな試み、それは大きなしるしと不思議であった。

しかし、主は今日に至るまで、あなたに知る心、見る目、聞く耳を与えられませんでした。
Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive and eyes to see and ears to hear unto this day
4 しかし、主は今日に至るまで、あなたがたに、悟る心と、見る目と、聞く耳を、下さらなかった。

私は荒野で四十年あなたがたを導きましが、あなたがたの衣服は古びず、あなたがたの足の靴は古びませんでした。
And I have led you forty years in the wilderness your clothes are not waxen old upon you and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot
5 私は、四十年の間、あなたがたに荒野を行かせたが、あなたがたが身に着けている着物はすり切れず、その足のくつもすり切れなかった。

あなたがたはパンを食べず、ぶどう酒や強い酒を飲まず、私があなたがたの神、主であることを知るようになりました。
Ye have not eaten bread neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink that ye might know that I am the LORD your God
6 あなたがたはパンも食べず、また、ぶどう酒も強い酒も飲まなかった。それは、「私が、あなたがたの神、主である」と、あなたがたが知るためであった。

And when ye came unto this place Sihon the king of Heshbon and Og the king of Bashan came out against us unto battle and we smote them

And we took their land and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to the half tribe of Manasseh

それゆえ、この契約の言葉を守って、これを行い、あなたがたの行うすべてのことを栄えさせるようにしなさい！
Keep therefore the words of this covenant and do them that ye may prosper in all that ye do
9 あなたがたは、この契約のことばを守り、行いなさい。あなたがたのすることがみな、栄えるためである。

あなたがたは今日、あなたの神、主の前に立っています。すなわち、あなたがたの頭、部族、長老、役員、すなわちイスラエルのすべての人です。
Ye stand this day all of you before the LORD your God your captains of your tribes your elders and your officers with all the men of Israel
10 きょう、あなたがたはみな、あなたがたの神、主の前に立っている。すなわち、あなたがたの部族のかしらたち、長老たち、つかさたち、イスラエルのすべての人々、に向かって出陣して来て戦ったので、私達は彼らを打ち破りました。

あなたの幼な子、あなたの妻、およびあなたの陣営の中にいるあなたのよそ者、あなたの木を切る者から、あなたの水を汲む者にいたるまでです。
Your little ones your wives and thy stranger that is in thy camp from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water
11 あなたがたの子どもたち、妻たち、宿営のうちにいる在留異国人、たきぎを割る者から水を汲む者に至るまで。

それはあなたが、あなたの神、主が今日、あなたと結ばれる主の契約と主の誓いに入るためです。
That thou shouldest enter into covenant with the LORD thy God and into his oath which the LORD thy God maketh with thee this day
12 あなたが、あなたの神、主との契約と、あなたの神、主が、きょう、あなたと結ばれるのろいの誓いとに、入るためである。

それは、このお方が今日、あなたを自分のための民として確立し、彼があなたに言ったように、また、このお方があなたの先祖にアブラハム、イサク、ヤコブに誓ったように、あなたにとって神となるためです。
That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself and that he may be unto thee a God as he hath said unto thee and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers to Abraham to Isaac and to Jacob
13 さきに主が、あなたに約束されたように、またあなたの先祖、アブラハム、イサク、ヤコブに誓われたように、きょう、あなたを立ててご自分の民とし、また、ご自身があなたの神となられるためである。

私がこの契約と誓いを立てるのは、あなたがたとだけではありません。
Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath
14 しかし、私は、ただあなたがたとだけ、この契約とのろいの誓いとを結ぶのではない。

But with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God and also with him that is not here with us this day

For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt and how we came through the nations which ye passed by

And ye have seen their abominations and their idols wood and stone silver and gold which were among them

Lest there should be among you man or woman or family or tribe whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God to go and serve the gods of these nations lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood
18 万が一にも、あなたがたのうちに、きょう、その心が私たちの神、主を離れて、これらの異邦の民の神々に行って、仕えるような、男や女、氏族や部族があってはならない。あなたがたのうちに、毒草や、苦よもぎを生ずる根があってはならない。

And it come to pass when he heareth the words of this curse that he bless himself in his heart saying I shall have peace though I walk in the imagination of mine heart to add drunkenness to thirst
19 こののろいの誓いのことばを聞いたとき、「潤ったものも渇いたものもひとしく滅びるのであれば、私は自分のかたくなな心のままに歩いても、私には平和がある」と心の中で自分を祝福する者があるなら、

The LORD will not spare him but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven
20 主はその者を決して赦そうとはされない。むしろ、主の怒りとねたみが、その者に対して燃え上がり、この書にしるされたすべてののろいの誓いがその者の上にのしかかり、主は、その者の名を天の下から消し去ってしまう。

And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law
21 主は、このみおしえの書にしるされている契約のすべてののろいの誓いにしたがい、その者をイスラエルの全部族からより分けて、わざわいを下される。

また、来るべき世代、あなたの後に立つ子孫達、および遠い国から来る外国人は、その地のわざわいと主がその地を病ませた病を見る時、こう言うでしょう。

So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you and the stranger that shall come from a far land shall say when they see the plagues of that land and the sicknesses which the LORD hath laid upon it
22 後の世代、あなたがたの後に起こるあなたがたの子孫や、遠くの地から来る外国人は、この地の災害と主がこの地に起こされた病気を見て、言うであろう。

And that the whole land thereof is brimstone and salt and burning that it is not sown nor beareth nor any grass groweth therein like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah Admah and Zeboim which the LORD overthrew in his anger and in his wrath
23 —その全土は、硫黄と塩によって焼け土となり、種も蒔けず、芽も出さず、草一本も生えなくなっており、主が怒りと憤りで、くつがえされたソドム、ゴモラ、アデマ、ツェボイムの破滅のようである—

すべての国民は言います。
「主はこの地にどうしてこのようになされたのか？この大いなる怒りの熱は何なのか？」
Even all nations shall say Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this land what meaneth the heat of this great anger
24 すべての国々は言おう。「なぜ、主はこの地に、このようなことをしたのか。この激しい燃える怒りは、なぜなのだ。」

その時、人は言います。
「彼らが、彼らの先祖の神、主がエジプトの国から彼らを連れ出された時に彼らと結ばれた主の契約を捨てたからだ。
Then men shall say Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt

For they went and served other gods and worshipped them gods whom they knew not and whom he had not given unto them

And the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book
27 それで、主の怒りは、この地に向かって燃え上がり、この書にしるされたすべてののろいが、この地にもたらされた。

And the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger and in wrath and in great indignation and cast them into another land as it is this day

The secret things belong unto the LORD our God but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever that we may do all the words of this law

12 あなたが、あなたの神、主との契約と、あなたの神、主が、きょう、あなたと結ばれるのろいの誓いとに、入るためである。
13 さきに主が、あなたに約束されたように、またあなたの先祖、アブラハム、イサク、ヤコブに誓われたように、きょう、あなたを立ててご自分の民とし、また、ご自身があなたの神となられるためである。
14 しかし、私は、ただあなたがたとだけ、この契約とのろいの誓いとを結ぶのではない。
15 きょう、ここで、私たちの神、主の前に、私たちとともに立っている者、ならびに、きょう、ここに、私たちとともにいない者に対しても結ぶのである。

21 主は、このみおしえの書にしるされている契約のすべてののろいの誓いにしたがい、その者をイスラエルの全部族からより分けて、わざわいを下される。
22 後の世代、あなたがたの後に起こるあなたがたの子孫や、遠くの地から来る外国人は、この地の災害と主がこの地に起こされた病気を見て、言うであろう。
23 —その全土は、硫黄と塩によって焼け土となり、種も蒔けず、芽も出さず、草一本も生えなくなっており、主が怒りと憤りで、くつがえされたソドム、ゴモラ、アデマ、ツェボイムの破滅のようである—
24 すべての国々は言おう。「なぜ、主はこの地に、このようなことをしたのか。この激しい燃える怒りは、なぜなのだ。」
25 人々は言おう。「それは、彼らの父祖の神、主が彼らをエジプトの地から連れ出して、彼らと結ばれた契約を、彼らが捨て、

27 それで、主の怒りは、この地に向かって燃え上がり、この書にしるされたすべてののろいが、この地にもたらされた。

And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them: Ye have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;
2 the great trials which thine eyes saw, the signs and those great wonders;
3 but the LORD hath not given you a heart to know, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.
4 And I have led you forty years in the wilderness; your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot.
5 Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink; that ye might know that I am the LORD your God.
6 And when ye came unto this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us unto battle, and we smote them.
7 And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of the Manassites.
8 Observe therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may make all that ye do to prosper. 
9 Ye are standing this day all of you before the LORD your God: your heads, your tribes, your elders, and your officers, even all the men of Israel,
10 your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in the midst of thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water;
11 that thou shouldest enter into the covenant of the LORD thy God--and into His oath--which the LORD thy God maketh with thee this day;
12 that He may establish thee this day unto Himself for a people, and that He may be unto thee a God, as He spoke unto thee, and as He swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
13 Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;
14 but with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day--
15 for ye know how we dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the midst of the nations through which ye passed;
16 and ye have seen their detestable things, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were with them--
17 lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go to serve the gods of those nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;
18 and it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying: 'I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart--that the watered be swept away with the dry';
19 the LORD will not be willing to pardon him, but then the anger of the LORD and His jealousy shall be kindled against that man, and all the curse that is written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven;
20 and the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that is written in this book of the law.
21 And the generation to come, your children that shall rise up after you, and the foreigner that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses wherewith the LORD hath made it sick;
22 and that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and a burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the LORD overthrew in His anger, and in His wrath;
23 even all the nations shall say 'Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?'
24 then men shall say: 'Because they forsook the covenant of the LORD, the God of their fathers, which He made with them when He brought them forth out of the land of Egypt;
25 and went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods that they knew not, and that He had not allotted unto them;
26 therefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curse that is written in this book;
27 and the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day'.--
28 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God; but the things that are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
