To answer your question on the speaker, when you remove the shell of the F45 the "innerds" are mostly a metal casting. There is a round "well" for the speaker on top of the casting close to one end of the PC board. I measured it to be 1-1/8" in diameter so it looked to me that a 1.10" QSI high-bass speaker would fit but I haven't tried it yet. It appears the speaker faces down with the enclosure over the top of it.

Did you get the 1" standard speaker or order something else?

There is an article on the F45 conversion on the QSI Solutions website:
http://qsisolutions.com/products/techinfo/revolution/q-revo_install_athearn_fp45.html

In that article they talk of a Revolution-A/G where the "/G" means they put different resister values on the PC board to run two bulbs, plus notice they rewire the bulbs to be in series rather than in parallel as they come in the Genesis model. If you didn't get the "/G" board, you need to remove the appropriate surface-mount resisters and replace the 220 ohm resisters with 130 ohm resisters (talk to QSI solutions about that). They show where the resisters are and talk about this in their Revolution manual, pages 24-25. Here's a link:
