Gngoatからの情報です。グレートノーザン鉄道は、１９０９年から１９１０年にかけて、バーニイアンドスミス社から、オリエンタルリミテッド用の展望車を７両購入しています。その番号、購入日は下記の通りです。
なお、車体色については、当時はカラー写真もない時代なので、gngoatでも論争が続いていますが、当時の新聞に「shiny broun」との表現があるので、オリーブ系ではなく、マルーン系の色だった模様です。
写真は、モデラーズページＮｏ．３４に掲載されていたオリエンタルエキスプレスの展望車のモデルです。鋼製化された後の姿でしょうか。

The references that I have indicate that GN had 7 parlor observation cars built by Barney & Smith. The references that I have seen (primarily the Historical Car Records located at the Minnesota Historical Society) give dates received by GN rather than dates built, but these usually aren't too far apart. Following is what I have on these cars:

All of these cars received steel underframes and steel sheathing in the 1924-1926 time frame. The earliest diagram of the cars that I have shows only a smoking room and a parlor observation room, with no eating facilities. Two of the cars (1085 and 1086) did later receive buffets.
