お父さんがグレートノーザン鉄道の職員だったTom Garrett氏が子供のころに撮影された８ミリフィルムをDVD化したものです。１９５７年～１９７１年の動画を見るのは、大変感動しました。特に、シアトルからカスケードまでの路線をドームカーのドームの一番前に陣取ってずっと撮影した場面は、秀逸です。トムからのメールを添付します。
This is to inform you of a new 34-minute DVD of the Great Northern Railway
entitled "The Cascade Division--A Young Operator Remembers." It consists mostly
of never-seen digitally enhanced home movies that a GN employee and his son took
between the years 1957 and 1971 of various places and operations on "the hill,"
and also a ride aboard a dome car on the eastbound Empire Builder from Seattle
to Scenic in 1971, two weeks before Amtrak took over passenger operations in the
U.S.A.
Everyone thought that Anthony De Rosa was the only person to take home movies of
the Great Northern, until now.
