U.S. Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III moved closer to rounding out his 12-man roster on Monday by adding Rickie Fowler, Matt Kuchar and J.B. Holmes to the squad he will take to Hazeltine.

Love's selections came the day after the third leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, where Fowler was eliminated from the postseason by less than one point. While he won earlier this year in Abu Dhabi and lost a playoff in Phoenix, Fowler endured a difficult summer before a T-7 finish at The Barclays which narrowly kept him from qualifying automatically for the team. He followed with a T-46 finish at the Deutsche Bank Championship and a 59th-place showing at the 68-man BMW Championship.

This will be Fowler's third Ryder Cup appearance, and marks the first time he will play on a home team. He compiled an 0-3-5 record during American losses in both 2010 and 2014, and has played the most matches in Ryder Cup history without recording a single

Kuchar has played on each of the last three Ryder Cup teams, a stretch he will now extend to four in a row. While he hasn't won since 2014, Kuchar's solid summer included T-3 finishes at both The Players and the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational as well as a T-4 finish at the Memorial. Kuchar shot a final-round 63 to earn the bronze medal at the Olympics and finished T-4 Sunday at Crooked Stick.

Kuchar's Ryder Cup record sits at 4-5-2, including a 2-1-0 mark four years ago at Medinah.

Holmes finished 10th in the two-year qualifying race, with only the top eight players earning automatic spots. He finished T-4 at the Masters and third at The Open, and while Holmes missed three straight cuts following Royal Troon he added a timely T-4 finish Sunday, holing a 4-foot par putt on the 72nd hole to clinch his spot in the Tour Championship.

Holmes has represented the U.S. in the Walker Cup and Palmer Cup as an amateur, along with the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup as a professional. The American team won each of the four times that Holmes participated, including the 2008 Ryder Cup when he went 2-0-1 at Valhalla.

Love will make his fourth captain's pick Sept. 25 after the season-ending Tour Championship. Among the notable players in the mix for Love's final selection are Bubba Watson, Daniel Berger, Justin Thomas, Kevin Kisner and Ryan Moore, all of whom have won on the PGA Tour this season and will compete among the 30-man field at East Lake.
