猫さんの詩

　秋田のM＜猫＞さんから日英訳の詩集をいただいた。いろいろなアメリカ詩人の英語詩と日本語訳が載っている。ちなみに＜猫＞さんのは、こんな感じで始まります。
　
　「絶望を呼吸する」
　
ぼくと同じ英文科に
「もう絶望」
といのが口癖の女性学生がいる
きっと一日に二十ぺんぐらいは
そう言っているに違いない

一度ほんとうに絶望して
山手線にでも飛び込んだら
かわいいのに
そうしたら一生忘れないでやるよ
あのブス

"We Breathe Despair"

This coed English major
Studies in the same department.
"I'm in despair," is her motto.
She repeats it
Firmly more than twenty times a day.

A happy, noisy one,
She's the last to feel so hopeless.
If she really fell into despair and
Threw herself on the Yamanote Line tracks,
So cool, charming,
I'd remember her for the rest of my life,
That siren.
