ユニークなアメリカのプロジェクト：ネーチャー探し

息子の生物学のクラスで面白いプロジェクトが課される。

野外に出て、リストに掲げられている８０の植物または昆虫を探し、そのうち３４を標本にして集めて持参するというもの。

ところが、簡単に見つからないものばかり。このThe Woodlandsは自然に囲まれているとはいうものの、聞いたことのない名前の植物ばかり。

昆虫は、「生き物の命を尊重した方法で殺す」という指示書きが出ていたが、これもまた難しい。リストの中の「蚊」などは、一発で殺した方が、虫にとって幸せだと思うが、息子はそうではないといいはる。

昆虫の殺し方で悩む息子は、結局すべて植物ばかり集めることにする。葉だけでなく、根や実、種なども含めて集めるので、１０時間くらいこのプロジェクトに時間を費やしたと思う。
