On May 15th, we had a special talk on U.S. nursing care by Ms. Kubota, a nurusing assistant studying at State University of New York, and also working in hospitals as an interpreter.
Her lecture referred to the difficulty of interpretation, especially in the natinon like U.S. with diversity (different religions, races, cultural backgrounds, eating policy, allegies...), the role of a medical interpreter, different communication style between U.S. and Japan, what medical interpreters should be aware of, why she started this job, and the recent trend in Medical Tourism. Covering such vital issues, listeners were very attracted and seriously listening.
Tokyo Interpreter Academy will further pursue our mission to train medical interpreters to contribute to the world.
Thank you.
