Dear Mr. Gonzales
CEO, Medical Tourism Japan

We have had a meaningful meeting today which accelerated my comprehension for your new target of outbound medical tourism.
Certainly, we have to tackle both of inbound and outbound medical tourism, even if there are some big troubles. But we must, at this stage, make clear those troubles against our progress.
(1) the cost problem of medical treatment・・・Japan has had a good social insurance system in which almost all Japanese are protected, so that we can approach any hospital within Japan through very lower treatment costs.
(2) the medical service level at Japanese hospitals・・・it’s very high, because most of staff in hospitals are well trained and accustomed to show kind and warm attitudes to all patients or users of medical services.
(3) the level of medical treatment ・・・it’ s , too, higher than most of Asian countries, because there are a lot of excellent doctors and technicians even in the fields of heart or brain diseases. It isn’t utterly strange that young Asian doctors have graduated from Japanese medical universities. And Japan has developed and skillfully used a lot of useful devices such as endoscopes.

Nevertheless, we can find some weak points in Japanese medical services.
Our ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has been very slow to allow using newly developed medicine and devices, so that the United States of America and European countries are prominently progressive in some fields.
So there are many cases in which our social security system doesn’t cover those newly developed treatments in the world using new medicine or devices.
It’s said to be a big problem and faults that especially in heavy cancer diseases social insurance can’t cover against newly developed treatments in foreign countries.
And, though it’s very strange, that treatments in the dental clinics can’t be covered in many cases. We must always pay high costs in dental clinics.

We can find spaces to utilize such weak and fault points in Japanese Ministry and insurance system for promoting outbound medical tourism.
As the next step, we must create a list through which we can quickly and easily find proper foreign hospitals or treatments.
At last, we have to present future customers the rich and detailed information to select and decide the target hospital and doctor.
Let’s work together for the achievement of the above purposes.

Sincerely
K.Okamura
