ノーベル賞選考委員長（前）からの
日本の若者向けの話

（１）賞をとろうとしての研究では、決して
うまくはいかない。自分が面白いと思うテーマに
専念して研究して欲しい。

（２）優秀な研究者も育っている様子だが、
中国や他のアジアの研究者に比べて、英語力
が不足している。もっと多くの論文を英語で
書いて、海外に発表して欲しい。

According to the Nikkei as of November 14, 2005,
an Ex-Chairperson of Commission Screening
the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine
specially told the young Japanese during his
stay in Japan.
❶”The aim of research shouldn’t be to win
the Nobel Prize, but rather, research should
foremost be interesting.
➋”There are an increasing number of excel-
lent Japanese researchers. However, compared
to Chinese and other Asians, English ability
is lacking, Japanese should write more papers
in English to appeal to the foreign community.
