「104年ぶりに」を英語で言うと？

英語ではどう表わすのでしょうか？日米の英字新聞を見てみましょう。

表現の仕方はいろいろですが、英語では「～ぶりに」を意味する英単語が存在しないので、一般的には for the first time in ～ で表します。

そう言えば、浪人時代に代々木ゼミナールで師事していた潮田五郎先生の「総合英語ゼミ」で、こんな例文を教えてもらいました。

The other day I ran into an old friend of mine, Tani, on the street for the first time in 10 years.（先日、街で、10年ぶりに旧友の谷に出くわした。）

受験時代に覚えたことは忘れませんね。この表現を使えば、

Ohtani had double digits in wins and homeruns in the same season for the first time in 104 years.

と言えますね。
