ミツバチの激減とレイチェル・カーソン

　ミツバチが近年世界的に激減しているというニュースを知って、レイチェル・カーソンの「沈黙の春」を思い出した。春が来ても小鳥のさえずりが聞こえない未来が来るかも知れないという警告を発した著作で、彼女は環境問題という概念を世界に初めて提示した人物である。
　ミツバチが大量に死ぬという事は他の昆虫もダメージを受けていると判断して良いだろう。
　昆虫は鳥類の餌となっているだろうから、ミツバチの激減は鳥類の激減に連鎖して沈黙の春を招来するかも知れない。

The Honeybee Sharp Decrease and Rachel Carson
　Hearing the news that honeybees have been rapidly declining worldwide in recent years reminded me of Rachel Carson's "Silent Spring." In this book, she warned that we may live in a future where we cannot hear the chirps of birds even when spring comes. She was the first person to present the concept of environmental issues to the world.
　The mass deaths of honeybees suggest that other insects are also being affected.
　Since insects are likely food for birds, the sudden decline in honeybees may lead to a chain reaction of a sharp decline in bird numbers, bringing about a Silent Spring.
