みなさんは、どんなカレーがお好きですか？ インド風、欧風、家庭風、どんなカレーにもそれぞれにおいしさがあるものです。僕の中では、欧風のちょっと甘みのがあってコクのあるのがお気に入りです。ジャガイモが付け合わせに出る神保町や番町のカレー屋さんも好きなのですが、両方ともサービスがいまひとつ。そんな中、このTops & Saxonのカレーは、もう30年近く僕の中のロングセラーとなっています。かつてはあちこちにあったのですが、どんどん店舗が減っていき、今では赤坂か渋谷か、という世界になっています。そんな中、渋谷西武５階のTops & Saxonの店は渋谷のオアシス。近くに寄ったら、つい食べてしまいます。レーズンとタマネギを揚げたものを入れ込んだご飯にルーをかけ、さらにピクルスの刻んだのとチーズを刻んだのをふりかけて頂きます。
東京で食べるおいしいカレーって、かつてはステーキハウスの「和田門」というのが、六本木と銀座にあり、そこがランチで出していたビーフカレーが絶品だったのですが、両店舗ともなくなってしまいました。どなたか、思い出や情報お持ちではありませんか？
