Subject: International participation sought: 2nd International Hearing Loop Conference (new date)
Greetings! As you may know, the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) is hosting the 2nd International Hearing Loop Conference, scheduled for June 18 - 20, 2011 in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
Information about this conference is online at:
http://www.hearingloss.org/convention/2011Convention/2011conference.asp
This international conference is a rare opportunity for people from all around the world to discuss convenient, user-friendly communication access for users of telecoil-equipped hearing aids and cochlear implants. It is also being held in conjunction with the HLAA convention from June 16th through June 19th.
I personally am working with HLAA on the program for the International Hearing Loop Conference, and am thus reaching out to your organization to seek participation from diverse countries. We are looking for:
1) Geographically diverse and recommended speakers (fluent in English) on topics related to audio induction loop technology, such as but not limited to advances in looping technology, international standards, assessing and remediating electromagnetic interference, microphone technology, complex loop installations, future developments in user-friendly, effective communication access, etc.
2) Updates on the status of loop installations on a country-by-country basis
3) Pictures and videos of interesting loop installations from different countries (with a possible option of presenting them in person at the conference)
Organizations or individuals who would be willing to provide information about #2 or 3 above, whether or not they are attending the conference, are asked to contact me at LoopConf@gmail.com to let me know of their intent of doing so.
We have a Call for Papers with a deadline of December 1st for speakers from outside the U.S.A., but I would encourage anyone interested in speaking at the conference to contact me right away at LoopConf@gmail.com, regardless of whether the first deadline has passed. The program must be finalized by early January, however.
(Note: Although all proposals must be sent to Nancy Macklin at HLAA for record-keeping purposes, she will be forwarding them to me.)
Please forward this email to other organizations or individuals if it would be helpful to do so.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. I hope to meet you or a representative from your organization in D.C. next June!
Best regards -
