President of the Democratic party of Japan Ichiro Ozawa expressed his wish to step down from his post at a press conference held at the party's headquarters in the afternoon on Sunday.He referred to the refusal by the party's executive members of the coalition with the LDP as the reason of his resignation, saying that the refusal is tantamount to the nonconfidence votes to him,then he would like to take responsibility for it.Althoug Secretary General Yukio Hatoyama is persuading him not to resign, a move to select top-replacing candidates has already started.In these circumstances,there is a high possibility that the political mobilization may proceed.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has decided to revise the regulations around the next summer season so that a small base sation for cellular phone service will be able to be installed at a user's house, shop, or office.If a user purchases a dictionary-sized samall-type base station, he or she can install it in a room of a high-rise condominium, a basement room, or the place in a mountaineous area, which have long been out of service areas,and enjoy the mobile communications there.

首相が連立打診、民主拒否　給油新法　合意できず　小沢氏と党首会談　派遣恒久法も議論　民主政策協議への対応焦点

Prime Minister Takeo Fukuda, also the President of the Liberal Democratic Party,met on Friday with President of the Democratic Party of Japan Ichiro Ozawa in their capacity of the head of the respective parties, as their second meeting following the one held on Tuesday.There,Fukuda made a poposal of making a grand coalition consisting of the LDP, New Komeito, and the DPJ.Ozawa replied that after discussing the matter in the party's executive meeting, he would like to answer it.The meeting of the DPJ's executive members confirmed to refuse to participate in the coalition.Regarding the new feuling bill in the Indian Ocean proposed by the current coalition camp,the two leadersd did not came to reach an agreement because Ozawa did not agree to it. But they discussed the so-called permanent law for dispatching the Self-Defense Forces personnel to overseas.From now on,the focal point in the domestic politics is whether policy consultations would be possible between the ruling parties and the LDP.
