TOTO

2021-06-19 08:00:19 | 日記
Hi there, Jun Tomioka here!

I read Nikkei the Newspaper every day.
There is a popular column named “My Resume” which
is an autobiography by business managers or famous people.

Now, Mr.Kise who is a former president of TOTO Company,
is writing it.

TOTO is a big company in Japan which produces toilets.
It holds 60% share of toilets in Japan.

TOTO’s epoch-making product is “Washlet”.
It’s the toilet which washes your hip with water automatically.
They started to sell it in 1980’s.
The tagline of TV commercial was “ Hip wants to be washed, too.”
The products were sold out all over Japan.

Now, most houses and buildings in Japan have washlet toilets.
We can’t live without washlet.

When I travel abroad, I sometimes feel bad because the toilets
are not washlets.
I hope all countries all over the world use washlets.

Dog’s scent

2021-06-18 06:28:46 | 日記
Hi there, Jun Tomioka here!

Yesterday, I had a meeting with my client.
He told me he was infected with corona virus the other day.
Although he was positive in the exam, his condition was good.
He had no fever, no cough but he had to stay home for 2 weeks.

During our meeting, he told me an interesting story about his dog.
Usually, his dog often approaches him and licks his feet
when he gets home. But during his infection with Corona virus,
the dog avoided him and seem to dislike his smell.
He was sad about it.

I understood dogs have keen scent.
This is interesting because I have a dog and I am curious
whether my dog can detect if I am infected with corona virus.

Carbonated Water

2021-06-17 07:30:04 | 日記
Hi there, Jun Tomioka here!

They say that carbonated water without sugar is becoming popular
recently in Japan.

Since a few years ago, it became popular because many people
enjoyed to mix whisky or other liqueur with carbonated water.

And last year, we had the pandemic.
We tend to stay home for a long time.
Many people want to be healthy and refresh.
Carbonated water without sugar is a suitable drink.

Actually, I was refreshed when I tried to drink
carbonated water when I realized I didn't have
this routine at home.

In Japan, we used to drink pure water while in Western countries
such as Europe, where they drink carbonated water.
However, there might be some recent changes of using
carbonated water in Japan.

Bless you.

2021-06-16 08:07:08 | 日記
Hi there, Jun Tomioka here!

Yesterday, when I was taking a RareJob lesson, a tutor sneezed.
I wanted to say something but didn’t.
Although I knew I should say something when someone sneezes,
I was not able to recall the words.

After the lesson, I searched about it.
The words are “Bless you”.
Why do western people say “Bless you” when someone sneezes?

There is a myth, if you sneeze, your soul comes out of your body
and then an evil spirit will take control.

So people around you say “God bless you” to hoping for God
to save you.

Next time, I want to say “Bless you” when someone sneezes.

2021-06-15 07:04:21 | 日記
Hi there, Jun Tomioka here!

Yesterday, Meteorological Agency announced the start of
the rainy season in Tokyo area.
We call the rainy season “TSUYU” in Japanese.
The beginning of the rainy season is “TSUYU IRI”.
The end of the rainy season is “TSUYU AKE”.

Usually, it lasts for a month.
Expected rains will happen on this season and few fines days
will also occur.

By the way, the Government is aiming to hold the Olympics Games
in Tokyo this year.
It is supposed to start on 23rd of July.
Hoping on that day, we will have a very fine day ending
the rainy season.
