Hi there!
This is Jun Tomioka. I am a Business Consultant.

In conversation with my son who is a junior high school
student, I told him reading books is useful.
He is eager to play video games but not interested in reading
books.

So we went to a library near my house together.
It’s been a while for me to visit there.

Although I usually read books about business, I haven’t read
novels recently. I decided to borrow one novel written by Mr.
Naoki Hyakuta who is a popular novelist in Japan.
My son also borrowed a novel written for teenagers.

After coming back home, I started reading the book.
Since it’s fun, I couldn’t stop reading.
Reading novels is fun but I have to be careful about
time management.

Recently, I like to drop by the UNIQLO Shop and buy something
because the quality is good and the price is reasonable.

UNIQLO’s business model is called “SPA”.
SPA stands for “Special Store Retailer of Private Label Apparel.”

The pioneer of SPA is GAP in USA.
UNIQLO adopted the model and expanded their business.

Before, usual apparel stores used to purchase clothing from
several makers or wholesalers and sell them.
If they have a lot of stock left, they used to return them to makers.

SPA companies like GAP and UNIQLO design their products by themselves
and ask contracted factories make their products and then sell them
in their own store.

Even if they have a lot of stock, they never return them.
They sell them by their responsibility.

Since they can produce their products by reasonable costs, they can get
enough profit even if they sell them by reasonable price.

I think SPA is very outstanding business model.

Power Harassment

Power harassment is an action in which someone in a higher position
that uses that power to harass　or bully a lower-ranking person.

Power Harassment is becoming a big problem in workplaces recently
but there was no law to regulate it in Japan until last year.

This year, the law about labor policy required companies to
take measures to prevent power harassment problems.

・To announce the company’s policy about power harassment.
・To arrange a consultation scheme on power harassment.
・To make a quick and proper response against a power harassment
incident.

This is complicated because of the problems about human relationship
but we have to make our efforts to have a good environment in workplaces.

Off-JT, OJT and SD

This is Jun Tomioka. I am a Business Consultant.

There are 3 ways to improve business skills.
They are Off-JT, OJT, and SD.

Off-JT stands for Off the Job Training.
This is a group training conducted in a place away
from worksite. It’s useful to acquire knowledge.

OJT stands for On the Job Training.
This is a training on worksite by man to man basis.
It’s useful to acquire practical skills.

And SD stands for Self-Development.
This is to study of their own accord.
It’s useful to acquire the skills that they are most
interested in.

Regarding Off-JT and OJT, the companies provide the
opportunities of training. It’s grateful for employees.
But I think SD is the most effective way to improve themselves
because it’s from their spontaneous attitude and it makes them
motivate very much.

PC’s Lifespan

This is Jun Tomioka. I am a Business Consultant.

Recently, my PC doesn’t work well.
It is very slow and sometimes freezes.
I was worried about it and visited PC shop yesterday.

A shop clerk told me that a PC’s lifespan is 3 years
to 5 years. I have already used my PC for over 3 years.

They say that there are several reasons of troubles
but the most common one is a trouble about pc’s drive.

My PC’s drive is called “HDD” or “Hard Disk Drive”.
Recent PC has another type drive called “SSD” or
“Solid State Drive”. They say that an SSD’s performance
is way much better than HDD.

He told me that if I change my drive from HDD to SSD,
my PC might work properly.

I’m going to ask him to check my PC this weekend.
Then, I'll decide whether I'll change my drive from HDD to SSD
or just replace my whole PC .
