My Father

2021-06-24 10:07:36 | 日記
Hi there! Jun Tomioka here.

Today is the anniversary of my father’s death.
He passed away 7 years ago when he was 83 years old.

My father was a unique person.
In 1960’s and 1970’s, Japanese economy was growing up
rapidly. Many Japanese businessmen worked very hard.

My father went his own way.
He used to sell pearl jewelry as an independent dealer.
After he made a profit, he spent much time for his hobbies
like golf, bowling, watch collection, and so on.
In summer, we moved to his hometown, Atami City.
My father didn’t work and spent all time with us for one month.

I might be influenced by him.
I used to work very hard in a company.
But when I was 47 years old, I left the company and became
independent as a business consultant.

This weekend, I will visit his grave in Atami and attend
a ceremony in a temple with my mother, my sister’s family,
and my family.
We will remember my father and talk about our memories with him.

Facebook

2021-06-23 09:29:59 | 日記
Hi there, Jun Tomioka here!

Facebook is one of social network services.
When did I start to use it?
It’s maybe ten years ago when I started to use a smart phone
for the first time.

At the beginning, I used to post some photos and messages
often because it was interesting for me to do it.
But recently, I seldom do it. I might get bored.

The day before yesterday, I posted a photo and a message
after a long time.
I had my 60th birthday and I posted the photo wherein
I wearing a red polo shirts.
In Japan, people celebrate 60 years old as the start of
old age and the person wears a red clothing.

I am happy because many friends gave me “likes” and messages.
So far, 136 people gave me them.

Under the pandemic, we don’t have many opportunities to see
friends.
I realized social network services are very useful.

Walking & Jogging

2021-06-22 07:59:23 | 日記
Hi there, Jun Tomioka here!

During winter and spring, I didn’t exercise very much
because I was busy with my business.
I have gained weight and lost my figure.

I decided to start exercising every morning.
After I get up early, I go out and jog.
At first, I tried to run, but due to lack of exercise,
I couldn’t do it.
I tried to walk for a while and then,
I gradually tried to run.

In the morning, I check my condition and then decide whether
to run or walk.
Anyway, I will continue to exercise slowly and lose weight.

60 years old

2021-06-21 07:59:51 | 日記
Hi there, Jun Tomioka here!

Today is my birthday. I turned 60 years old.
When you reach 60 years old, you'll be referred to
as "Kanreki" in Japan.
We celebrate it as a long life.

Kanreki is the first cerebration of a long life.
Other than that, we have other celebrations such as;
70 years old means “Koki”.
77 years old means “Kijyu”.
80 years old means “Sanjyu”.
81 years old means “Hanjyu”.
88 years old means “Beijyu”.
90 years old means “Sotsujyu”.
99 years old means “Hakujyu”.
100 years old means “Hyakujyu”.
108 years old means “Chajyu”.
111 years old means “Koujyu”.
119 years old means “Ganjyu”.
120 years old means “Daikanreki”.
250 years old means “Tenjyu”.

So many celebrations!
It’s interesting that the 250 years old celebration is settled.
They say that the record of the longest life is 122 years
and 164 days.
Life span is becoming longer.
In the future, people might live for over 250 years.

Father’s Day

2021-06-20 09:27:03 | 日記
Hi there, Jun Tomioka here!

Today is the third Sunday of June, Father’s Day.
They say that Father’s Day started on 19th of June in 1910
in the U.S.A.

In line with Father’s day, I have a story to tell
about Mrs. Sonora Smart Dodd. Her brothers and sisters
were raised by their father after their mother passed away.
However, their father also passed away after they all became
matured.

Mrs. Dodd was thankful for her father and asked the church
to hold the ceremony for fathers.
That’s the start of Father’s Day.
Since Mother’s Day already existed so she thought
fathers should be respected, too.

In my case, me and my sister were raised by our parents.
I believe I was influenced by my father more compared to
my mother.

To give an instance, my father also worked as a freelancer,
now I work as a freelance business consultant as well.
Although he passed away 7 years ago, I am thankful for him
to teach me many important things for my life.

Now, I have a son.
He is 15 years old and I am not sure yet
how I will influence him the way, my dad did.
