Eiichi Shibusawa

Hi, Jun Tomioka here.

 

I read a book titled ‘Rongo and Soroban’ written by Eiichi

Shibusawa. He is well known for Father of Industries in Japan.

 

He established a lot of banks and companies and other organizations,

and contributed a lot for Japanese economy in the Meiji Period.

 

He described his philosophy in the book.

He insisted there were two important things in the economy.

 

They are Rongo and Soroban.

Rongo is a book which express the importance of morals.

Soroban is a Japanese old calculator.

He thought we needed to make profit for success but we should

do the right way every time.

 

I learnt a lot from his book.

One more win

Hi, Jun Tomioka here.

 

Yesterday, the third game of the world series was held

in New York.

 

Shohei Otani injured his left shoulder in the second game,

but he played in this game.

 

The result was Dodger’s win. They won three games in a row.

One more win for the champion.

 

Unfortunately, since I have a work today, I can’t watch

the game on time today.

 

I hope their victory in my mind while working.

Losing a Majority

Hi, Jun Tomioka here.

 

The House of Representatives election was held.

The issue was the dirty money problem that some members

of LDP(the Liberal Democratic Party) caused.

 

In the result, LDP decreased their seats and opposition parties

increased their seats.

LDP is still the largest party but lost a majority.

 

I am afraid that the political situation will become

unstable.

Hoshino Resort’s challenge

Hi, Jun Tomioka here.

 

I read an article about Hoshino Resort which is a famous hotel

operating company.

 

The company is planning to open a Japanese style hotel, so called

‘Onsen Ryokan’in Sharon Springs, New York State in the U.S.A.

 

Mr.Hoshino, a president of the company said,

“When we tried to develop a western style hotel in the U.S.A.,

it was not successful. They said why Japanese tried to make

a western style hotel, it’s non-sense.”

 

He decided to expand Japanese style hotels to the world to let

people know Japanese hospitality and other good things.

 

I hope their challenge will be successful.

Fredy Freeman

Hi, Jun Tomioka here.

 

The first game of the World Series was held in the Dodger Studium.

The game was very close and finally, Dodgers won the game.

 

The hero was Fredy Freeman.

He had a walk-off Grand-slam home run.

It was a dramatic ending!

 

The series has just started.

I am looking forward to watching their exciting plays.
