The other day, I had a dinner at the restaurant called “Nakamuraya”.
Nakamuraya is a big old company. It was established in 1901.

It started as a small bakery in Hongo, Tokyo.
And 40 years later, they moved to Shinjuku to expand their business.
At that time, Shinjuku was not a big town but the owner expected
this area will be developed in the future.

As he expected, Shinjuku became a very big shopping area.
Nakamuraya produces not only bread but Japanese and western sweets.
And they are also into restaurant businesses.

The company became big and famous and now they have a lot of branches.
I respect the company because they have been operating their business
for 120 years!

Hi there!
This is Jun Tomioka.

Yesterday, I received the drip pot that I ordered from my friend
who owns a small company.

The pot is similar to a coffee maker but this is intended
in making Japanese tea.

My friend came up with this idea to develop such product
for other people to enjoy their japanese tea.

Although this project just started now, I do hope that it will
be successful so that many people will also enjoy good Japanese
tea.

Laundry

Hi there!
This is Jun Tomioka.

Although I used to go to a laundry to have my shirts clean before,
I seldom go there recently.

There are two reasons.

Firstly, I lost opportunities to wear business attire due to the pandemic.
Before, I used to conduct business trainings and spoke in front of
people many times but I seldom do it now.

Secondly, I have non-iron shirts and it’s enough for me to wear them
when I have meetings with my clients.
When I have meetings through the internet, I often wear casual shirts.

I am a little bit worried about laundry industry.

Self-restraint

Hi there!
This is Jun Tomioka.

Since the government announced the state of emergency again,
the mood of self-restraint is expanding.

Last night, after a meeting with my client, we visited a building
which has many restaurants. It’s located in Nihonbashi which is in
the central area in Tokyo.

Some of the restaurants in the building were closed.
We found an available restaurant and entered it.
But there were few guests there.

We enjoyed dinner but spoke calmly.
And we left there earlier than usual.
The government asks restaurants to close at 8pm in the evening.

I understand people exercise self-restraint.
But I want to visit restaurants sometimes and follow healthy safety
measures to avoid the risks of infection because I want to support
the restaurant industry.

Hi there.

They say that it’s important for business persons
to think logically.

They say that Japanese are not good at it compared to
foreign people.
We are considerate to other people's emotions.

To think logically and arrive at a proper conclusion,
we should analyze problems in several ways.

They are called “frame works”.
There are SWOT, 3C, 4P, Logic Tree, and so on.
We should get used to using these tools for thoughts
when we have to think about strategies or problems.
