トランプの賢愚

　人の能力には様々なものがある。頭の回転、記憶力、発想の豊かさ、説明の上手さ、視野の広さ、考察範囲の広さ、傾聴力等、数え上げればきりがない。ところで政治家に必要な能力はどうだろうか？上に挙げた能力は必要だろうが、申し訳ないがトランプ大統領は視野の広さ、考察範囲の広さと傾聴力に大きな問題があるようだ。

　相手の立場に立って考える事ができないトランプ氏は賢か愚かと問われれば愚と評価せざるを得ないだろう。

Trump is wise or foolish?
　There are many different types of human abilities. The list goes on and on: quick thinking, good memory, creative thinking, good explanation skills, broad perspective, broad range of consideration, listening skills, and so on. But what about the abilities required for a politician? The above abilities are necessary, but I'm sorry to say that President Trump seems to have serious problems with broad perspective, broad range of consideration, and listening skills.

　If asked whether Trump, who is unable to put himself in the other person's shoes, is wise or foolish, one would have to say he is foolish.

　フジテレビが存亡の危機に陥っている。当初の社長の対応方針が悪く一気に広告の依頼主が不信を抱き、広告を取り消す企業が続出したのである。中居氏の方は女性との間で示談が成立しており、一件落着であるがフジテレビサイドの対応に問題があるように推測されているようだ。

　約１年前の事案の背後に別の大問題が隠れていたような印象がある。そこに組織風土の退廃とガバナンス不良の問題が浮き上がってきたのであろう。企業であれ、政府であれ、およそ組織風土は長の責任である。一般の要員に責任が全く無いとは言わないが、組織全般のモラルや士気、企業文化等は、必ず長の責任である。
　特に大組織では、組織風土に関するモニタリングが必要である。

I am not saying that the general staff is completely free of responsibility, but the morale, morale, corporate culture, etc. of the organization as a whole are always the responsibility of the head.
　Monitoring of organizational culture is necessary, especially in large organizations.

　「西洋の没落」はドイツの数学者であったシュペングラーが第一次世界大戦が終了した1918年に出版した本である。西洋が没落する必然性については書かれていないという評価がある一方で、第一次世界大戦という惨事を経験した欧米には、大きな影響を与えたという。

　出版された当時から１世紀の時間が流れている現在の世界を観察すると、西洋は確かに没落しつつあると言えそうだ。
　例えば、経済の重心はヨーロッパからアジアに移行したし、民主主義国が増えておらず、成功が約束される政治モデルでもない。アメリカやイギリス、ドイツ、フランス等の政治的混乱を見れば自慢できるものではないだろう。資本主義もかなり行き詰まってもいる。
　問題は、西洋の没落の後が容易に見えない事だろう。

Looking at the political turmoil in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, etc., it is not something to be proud of. Capitalism has also come to a considerable dead end.
　The problem may be that it is not easy to see the post of the West's decline.

 

急ぐべきコンパクトシティ建設

急ぐべきコンパクトシティ建設

　日本は災害大国である。その災害大国に温暖化による洪水や豪雪が加わるようになってきている。さらに南海トラフの地震は何時起きても不思議ではないとされている。
　輪島の方では、地震による生活インフラの復興が手付かずの状態に更に線状降水帯による洪水に見舞われた。

　災害から立ち直る前に、新たな災害に見舞われるという事態は、温暖化の進展と共にありふれた現象となっていくだろう。しかも、経済が停滞して生活インフラの維持が難しくなる一方で、高齢化に伴う過疎化で行政サービスを維持する事が難しくなるだろう。
　以上を踏まえると、居住区域を小さくして災害対応や行政コストを抑える手立てとしてコンパクトシティ化を急ぐべきであろう。

自滅するアメリカ

　アメリカがトランプ大統領の下で国際的地位を放棄しようとしている。アメリカを再び偉大な国にすると標榜しているが、偉大であるどころかエゴの強い品性の乏しい国に向かっているようだ。
　経済はと言うと保護貿易に向かいこれまでアメリカが主張していた自由貿易とは真逆である。

　アメリカは強大な国なので、世界を、人類を善導出来る筈で、それを担ってこそ偉大な国家と言えるだろう。しかるに、そうした使命を投げ出して当然とも言える自国優先を殊更に主張するような国が他国から見て偉大に見える筈がないだろう。アメリカは偉大ではなく自滅の方向に向かうだろう。資本主義の行き詰まりと共に。

　America is a powerful country, so it should be able to lead the world and humanity in the right direction, and it can be called a great nation only if it takes on that role. However, a country that abandons such a mission and insists on prioritizing its own nation, which is only natural, cannot be seen as great by other countries. America will not be great, but will head toward self-destruction, along with the stagnation of capitalism.
