聖人 聖パトリックの命日です。
アイルランドの祝日ですが、
カナダでは祝日ではありません。
シャムロック服を着て、緑色のもの持ち祝うので
別名「緑の日」とも言われ、町中に緑があふれます。
この緑はキリスト教の三位一体の象徴を
説明したクローバーからきています
今ではアイルランドでも盛大に祝われますが、
祝日になったのは1903年から。
今では世界中でおこなわれるパレードも
始まりはアイルランドからではなく、
アメリカで従軍していたアイルランドの兵士が
ニューヨークの町を行進したのが始まり。
かなだでも500万人をこえるアイルランド系の移民がおり、
ここバンクーバーでもパレードがおこなわれます。
伝統的なキルトに身をつつみ、
バグパイプの演奏やアイリッシュダンス。
夜になると、緑色の服を着て
緑に染められたビール片手に盛り上げがるようです。

Ireland’s national holiday
but in Canada it is not a national holiday.
Applying hemlocks to clothing and
celebrating the color green
so it was also called “green day”.
On this day the town is filled with green.
This green comes from the green
of the clover that symbolizes trinity
It has been celebrated in Ireland for centuries now
but it was not official until 1903.
The parades that are held
around the world were not originally from Ireland
but from the Irish people of America.
It all started when the Irish soldiers marched
on the roads of New York.
In Canada it is said there are
over 500 thousand Irish Canadians.
Here in Vancouver, we celebrate the marching parade.
people wear traditional kilts and bands play the bag pipes.
At night, the Irish pubs are field with green
and the people celebrate by raising green colored beer
with each other.
