26章 愚か者と怠け者、困った人たち
1．愚か者と怠け者
箴言の著者は、人をよく見るように教えます。人も様々です。臣下を抱える王であれば、やはり、それなりの人を、自分の側に置きたいと思うものでしょう。まず、愚か者には注意。彼らに名誉（1節）、信用（6-7節）、要職（8節）、これらは全く似つかわしくありません。また、愚か者を教育することも実に難しいものです。打ち叩いて教える以外に道はありません（3節）。議論が通じないからです（4節）。また人の愚かさは決して取り除くことができません（11節）。けれども愚か者に輪をかけて、始末の悪い存在は12節、「自惚れ屋」です。自信過剰の人は矯正不可能です。変わることはありえません。ともあれ、愚か者とどうしても関わらざるを得なくなったら、柔軟に対処し、愚かさに巻き込まれないことを心掛けることです（5節）。
次に「怠け者」も要注意です（13-16節）。怠け者は、それなりの言い訳をして、仕事や責任から逃れようとします（13節）。面倒くさいものはしたがらないのです（15節）。気持ちがたるんでいる（14節）のみならず、自分を誰よりも知者だと思っているので、手に負えません（16節）。
2．困った人々
第四に、注意すべきは、いわゆる困った人たちです。自分に関係のないことに口出しをする、おせっかいな人。それは通りすがりの犬の耳を引っ張るのと同じ行為ですが、それをするのです（17節）。また、真顔で嘘を突き通す人、平気で人を騙す人です。これも、近づけば大火傷をします（19節）。さらに噂話の好きな人。「人の口に戸は立てられない」もので、噂話は防ぎようがありません。そのような人間だと感じたら距離をおきましょう（20、22節）。また、争い好きな人。愉快犯のようなもので、人が集まる所には、必ず人と人の間に衝突が起こることを楽しみとするような人がいることも覚えておきなさい、と言います。ですから、衝突が興ったら、ひょっとして衝突が目的？と考えてみることです。問題にするようなことでもないのに問題にしているかもしれないのです。小さな衝突をことさらかきたてるような人は、要注意です（21節）。
それから、口上手な人間には特に注意しましょう。「口に蜜あり、腹に剣あり」と言います（23節）。人は本心を隠すことができる生き物です。愛の接吻で、自分の師イエスを売り渡したユダを、忘れてはならないでしょう（ルカの福音書22:47）。恐ろしいことですが、本音と建前が全く異なる人間がいるのです。しばしば親しみを込めて近付き、腹には「七つの忌み嫌われるもの」、つまりあらゆる種類の邪悪さを持っている者がいる、と。上手いことを言われても、簡単に信用しないことです（25節）。それで被害を受けるのは、まずあなた自身なのですから。ただ、人が誰かに憎しみを抱いていたら、それは、誤魔化し通せるものではありません。いずれ明らかになるものです（26節）。また、密かに悪を図る者は、いずれ自滅するものでしょう（27節）。エステル記にあるハマンの物語を思い起こしましょう。指導者として、しっかりと組織を動かしていくことを考えるならば、あるいは、平安で穏やかな日々を暮らすためには、人をよく見極めていくことです。では今日もよき一日となるように祈ります。

Chapter 26: Fools, Idlers, and Troubled People
1. fools and idlers
The author of Proverbs tells us to look closely at people. People are different. A king who has subjects would, after all, want to have a reasonable person by his side. First, beware of fools. Honor (v. 1), credit (vv. 6-7), and important positions (v. 8) are not at all appropriate for them. It is also very difficult to educate fools. There is no other way but to teach them by beating them (v. 3), because they cannot argue with you (v. 4). And the foolishness of man can never be removed (v. 11).
But even worse than the fool is the egotist (v. 12). Overconfidence cannot be corrected. They cannot be changed. If you must deal with fools, be flexible and try not to get caught up in their foolishness (v.5).
Next, beware of "lazy people" (vv. 13-16). The lazy person tries to escape from work and responsibility by making reasonable excuses (v. 13). They don't want to do anything tedious (v. 15). Not only are they slack-jawed (v. 14), but they are also unruly (v. 16) because they think they are more knowledgeable than anyone else.
2. troubled people
Fourth, we should pay attention to so-called "troubled people. These are nosy people who meddle in matters that do not concern them. It is the same act as pulling the ear of a passing dog, but they do it (v. 17). It is also the person who puts through lies with a straight face and deceives others with impunity. This, too, will burn you badly if you get close to it (v. 19). Furthermore, it is a person who likes to gossip. You can't put a door in another's mouth," and there is no way to prevent gossip. If you find such a person, keep your distance from him or her (vv. 20, 22). Also, a contentious person. Wherever people gather, there are people who enjoy conflict. Therefore, when a conflict arises, you should ask yourself, "Is conflict the goal? If you see a conflict, think, "Is that what this is about? The person may be making an issue out of something trivial that doesn't really matter. Be careful of those who stir up small conflicts (v. 21).
And be especially wary of people who are glib. There is honey in the mouth and a sword in the belly" (v. 23). People are creatures that can hide their true feelings. Let us not forget Judas, who sold out his teacher Jesus with the kiss of love (Luke 22:47). It is frightening, but there are people who have very different real intentions and preconceived notions of what they really want. Often approached with friendliness, there are those who have "the seven abominations" in their belly, that is, wickedness of all kinds. Don't trust them easily, even if they say they are good (v. 25). The first person to be harmed by it is you. However, if one has hatred for someone, it is not something that can be faked. It will eventually be revealed (v. 26). And those who do evil in secret will eventually destroy themselves (v. 27). Recall the story of Haman in the book of Esther. As a leader, if you want to run an organization well, or if you want to live a peaceful and tranquil life, you must be a good judge of people. I wish you a good day.
