27章 身近なものを大事にする
1．明日のことを誇るな
1節に、「明日のことを誇るな。一日のうちに何が起こるか、あなたは知らないのだから。」とあります。物事が計画通りに進むかどうかなど、誰にもわからないものです。確かに、2019年に始まったコロナは、私たちにそのことを深く教えたことでしょう。コロナによって、これほど社会が影響を受け、自分の計画や事業が、全く思わぬ修正を余儀なくされるなど、考えもしなかった、という人は多いはずです（1節）。社会は、あなたの力の及ばないところで動いている、その現実をよく理解し物事に謙虚になれ、と著者は語っているようです。となれば自分を認めてもらうために一生懸命になったりするのもほとほどにし、時代が自分を押し上げてくれることを待つことも大切です（2節）。思い通りにならないからといって、へそを曲げてしまわないことです（3節）。他人がうまくいっているからといって、妬まないことです。その結末などわからないでしょう（4節）。自分の部下ダビデを、妬み虐待したサウル王のようであってはいけません（サムエル記 第一18:8）。
人を愛する時もほどほどです。愛し過ぎて、人をダメにすることもあるからです（5節）。もちろん言うべきことはしっかり言いましょう。愛は誠実さです。本当は憎んでいるのに、上辺は愛しているふりをするなんて、敵のすることです（6節）。謙虚で、向上心のある賢い人は、どんなことでも吸収して自分のものにします（7節）。大切なのは、時代の流れの中で、肩ひじ張らずに、自然体で生きていくことなのかもしれません。
2．知恵深く生きよ
さてソロモンは、父ダビデの生涯を振り返っているようです。父ダビデが、サウルに憎まれ王宮から追放されて、荒野を彷徨ったように（サムエル記 第一26:9）、人には、安定した地位を奪われ、まるで浮き草のように漂う、試練の日々が突如訪れることがあるものです（8節）。そんな時に持つべきものは身近な友です（9節）。友を大事にすることです（10節）。人間の心のつながりは血のつながりを超えるものがあります。そして知恵を持って生きることでしょう（11節）。つまり、良く見通しを立てて生きることです（12節）。明日のことはわからないものですが、想定しうる危険は、あらかじめ避けておくものだと言います（ルカの福音書14:28）。また心にもないことは言わないことです（14節）。争い好きな女とは近づかないことです。そのような女は「長雨の日に滴り続ける雨漏り」、つまり憂鬱さをさらに増し加えるような存在だからです。しかも、その女を制する者は「風を制し、油をつかむことができる」。つまり、制御不可能だと思えということです（15-16節）。ともあれ本当に、どんな人と関係を築いていくかが、人生において決定的に重要です（17節）。ちやほやしてくれる人間関係は、いくら持っても無駄です。切磋琢磨できる関係こそ大事にすることです。勤勉であることです（18節）。人柄というのは、その人の言動や生活に現れるものです（19節）。隠しようがないのです。人間の目の欲、肉の欲は尽きないものです（20節）。名誉欲も尽きません。そして褒められた時にこそ、人は慢心しやすい者、用心したいところです（21節）。
一攫千金、成功して富を得たり、地位を得たりしても、そんなものは長く続くものではありません（23節）。どこであれ長く土地に住み着いて、しっかり働けば、宮廷での華々しい報いや商売の大儲けに優る安定があるものです（25-27節）。地味な生活であっても、それを大事にすることだと言います。どうでしょう。ソロモンの箴言は、自分の家族や、王としての働きから来る洞察をまとめあげています。つまり、それは、人間の生活に密着した事柄について、私たちに良い判断力を与えるものです。

Chapter 27: Taking Care of What's Familiar
1. don't boast about tomorrow
Verse 1 says, "Do not boast about tomorrow. For you do not know what will happen in a day. Who knows if things will go as planned? Certainly, the corona that began in 2019 will have taught us that deeply. Many of you must have never thought that society would be so affected by the corona that your plans and projects would be forced to make completely unexpected revisions (v. 1). The author seems to be saying that society operates outside of your control, and that you should be humble enough to understand this reality. If this is the case, it is also important to not try too hard to get yourself recognized and wait for the times to push you up (v.2). Do not bend out of shape just because things are not going your way (v. 3). Do not be jealous because others are doing well. You don't know how it will end (v. 4). Do not be like King Saul, who was jealous and mistreated David, his subordinate (1 Samuel 18:8).
Love others in moderation. Love too much and you may ruin them (v.5). Of course, say what you need to say. Love is sincerity. It is the enemy to pretend to love someone on the surface when you really hate them (v. 6). A humble, ambitious, and wise person will absorb whatever comes his way and make it his own (v. 7). Perhaps the important thing is to live naturally in the current of the times, without effortless.
2. live wisely
Now Solomon seems to be reflecting on the life of his father David. Just as his father David wandered in the wilderness after being hated by Saul and exiled from the royal palace (1 Samuel 26:9), people are sometimes deprived of a stable position and suddenly find themselves floating about like floating weeds (verse 8). What we should have at such times is a close friend (v. 9). Cherish your friends (v. 10). The connection of the human heart is greater than the connection of blood. We should also live with wisdom (v.11). In other words, we are to live with a good outlook (v.12). We do not know what tomorrow will bring, but we are to avoid possible dangers in advance (Luke 14:28). Do not say what is not in your heart (v. 14). Stay away from contentious women. Such a woman is like "a leak that keeps dripping on a long rainy day," adding to the gloom. Moreover, he who controls such a woman "can control the wind and seize the oil. In other words, think of it as uncontrollable (vv. 15-16). Anyway, really, the kind of people with whom you build relationships is critically important in life (v. 17). It is useless to have relationships with people who pamper you. It is the relationships that allow for friendly competition that are to be cherished. Be diligent (v.18). Character is expressed in one's words, actions, and life (v. 19). There is no way to hide it. The lust of man's eyes and the lust of his flesh is insatiable (v. 20). The lust for honor is also insatiable. And it is when we are praised that we are prone to pride, so we should be careful (v. 21).
Even if one gets rich, succeeds, and gains wealth and position, such things do not last for long (v. 23). Wherever you settle down for a long time and work hard, there is a stability that is superior to the spectacular rewards of the court or the great profits of business (vv. 25-27). Even if it is a simple life, he says, it is to be cherished. What do you think? Solomon's Proverbs sums up the insights that come from his own family and his work as a king. In other words, it gives us good judgment on matters that are close to human life.
