Panasonic Corporation and Sumitomo Chemical Company,Limited likely will reach an agreement to have a tie-up in the business of so-called organic electro luminescence,which is expected to be a key material in manufacturing the next generation panels used for flat TV screens.
Specifically,the two will jointly develop and produce the world's first large-size panels more than 40 type by around 2010. Furthermore,by 2015 they intend to reduce power consumption of even such a large TV set to around a tenth of that in the current plasma TV set,or a third of that in the current liquid crystal TV set.
