Golf Boom

2021-06-09 08:29:09 | 日記
Hi there, Jun Tomioka here!

Yesterday, I spoke to my business partner.
He lives in Gunma Prefecture.
There are a lot of golf courses in Gunma.
He likes to play golf.

He said golf courses are very busy recently and the play fee
is increasing.

The reason is the new "Coronavirus”.
People avoid to go to places like theaters, shopping malls,
and other indoor places for their pleasure, because they feel at risk.
Instead, people prefer to do outdoor sports these days.

Moreover, Japanese professional golfers recently play very well.
Hideki Matsuyama won the Masters Tournament.
Yuka Saso won the US Women’s Tournament.

I think Golf Boom will last for a while.

Congrats, Yuka !

2021-06-08 08:33:28 | 日記
Hi there, Jun Tomioka here!

Big news came to us yesterday morning.
Miss Yuka Saso who holds nationalities of Japan and Philippines,
won the US Women’s Golf Tournament which is one of the biggest
and oldest professional golf tournaments in the world.

Congratulations, Yuka!
Her father is Japanese. Her mother is Filipina.
She was born in Philippines and grew up in Philippines and Japan.

Her father used to play golf.
When he went to practice, Yuka followed him.
Growing up, the golf practice place served as her playground.

She said, ”I want to play golf and become a professional.”
Her father taught her golf from her childhood and she became
a professional golfer.

Anyway, I was surprised that she is still young, 19 years old!
I hope she will win more and give us a strong impression.

Dog

2021-06-07 07:29:00 | 日記
Hi there, Jun Tomioka here!

I found an interesting article in a newspaper yesterday.
It was about dogs.

They say that people who began to have dogs are increasing
after the pandemic happened.
The number of dogs which were raised by people in Japan last year
were 462,000. That was a 14% increase from the previous year.

It seems that many people wanted to have dogs because they
stay home longer due to the pandemic.

According to some research, there are 3 merits of having dogs.

1.Physical effect
They can increase the amount of exercise by walking dogs and
it is effective for decreasing of blood pressure and cholesterol.

2.Mental effect
To contact with dogs makes our brains produce “happy hormone”.
We can relax through it.

3.Social effect
Dog owners seem to be friendly and responsible.
And they can get to know many people while walking dogs.

Our family began to have a dog 3 years ago.
I realized 3 merits by having a dog.
We are very happy, thanks to our dog.

Starbucks

2021-06-06 08:00:12 | 日記
Hi there, Jun Tomioka here!

Recently, I often drop by Starbucks to have some coffee and food.
I’m satisfied with the taste and atmosphere but felt that the prices
were expensive.

They say that people who use Starbucks tend to stay there for a
long time to study or work.
And now, I come to realize why the prices are higher than other shops.

If customers stay longer, the turnover becomes bad and may affect
the business.
What do they think about this matter?

I made a research about it.
Some years ago, the coffee shop industry had this problem in USA.
But Starbucks has a different take about the situation.
At that time, Starbucks announced that,
“We strive to create a welcoming environment for all of our customers.
We do not have any time limits for being in our stores, and continue to
focus on making the Third Place experience for every Starbucks customer.”

The first place is home and second one is the workplace.
Mr. Howard Schultz, the founder of Starbucks, travelled to Europe and
visited different cafés to observe how they deal with this circumstance.
He thought cafés are the third place for people to communicate
and wanted to make these places in USA, too.

Because of this, I finally understood why they have this kind of policy.
We can stay for a longer period of time and relax while we drink our
favorite drinks but I think we should keep a well-balanced behavior
and be sensitive enough to let other people experience there services.

Encounter

2021-06-05 17:29:14 | 日記
Hi there, Jun Tomioka here!

The other day, I heard a psychology lecture.
The speaker said, “How many people do you think you encounter
in your life?”

I didn’t know.
It was 30,000 people.
But people who you become friends are not so many.
They say that your close people are 300 people in your life.

The lecture was how we should try to do to make close relations
with people you like.

The most important thing I thought was to share myself.
We can earn trust from people by doing it.

Anyway, I want to cherish each encounter with people.
