7月19日は、赤穂市交通公園の路面清掃にとって、絶好の日和となりました。
July 19th was a perfect day for cleaning the roads at Ako City Traffic Park.
日中の猛暑を避けるため、午前5時半から清掃を始めましたが、空には雲が一面に広がり続け、直射日光による影響が少なく、体力的に随分と助けられました。その上、数日間振り続けた雨によって、路面の上に厚く堆積した土砂も除去しやすい状態でした。
Clouds continued to spread across the sky from the morning, which helped to reduce physical exhaustion, and the continuous rain over the past few days made it easy to remove the thick layer of dirt and sand that had built up on the road surface

それにつけても、今回も植物たちの力を見せつけられました。それは、路面のアスファルトを長年に亘って侵食した結果、アスファルトが無くなり、土に替わってしまっている路面が広く点在しているからです。こういう場所では、土の表面の葉だけではなく、土の中を縦横無尽に張り巡らされている地下茎も可能な限り除去して、植物の再生と路面の浸食を抑える必要があり、結構、手間が掛かります。
Even so, the power of plants was on full display this time as well. There were many areas of the road surface where the asphalt had been eroded over the years and turned into soil. In places like this, it is necessary to remove not only the leaves above the soil, but also as many of the underground stems that run in all directions in the soil as possible to prevent the plants from regenerating, which is quite a lot of work.
予定していた 約 24㎡ の清掃を終える頃、空の雲が薄くなり、清掃したエリアを明るく照らしてくれました。
When we finished cleaning the planned area of about 24 ㎡, the clouds in the sky thinned out, illuminating the cleaned area.
前回までの路面清掃活動で清掃したエリアを振り返ってみれば、空の青と草地の緑に挟まれて、真っ直ぐに伸びる縁石と路面も嬉しそうです。
Looking back at the areas we had cleaned up until last time, the straight curbs and road surface looked happy under the clear sky.
次回は、今回と繋がったエリアで、清掃が済めば、公園の外周路の一角が完了する見込みです。そして、次々回は まだ残っている外周路の清掃に取り掛かります。
The next cleanup will be in a connected area, and once that is complete, it is expected that a corner of the park's outer path will be completed.
