旅行はいかがでしたか--------> How was your trip?
ほとんどはよかったのですが、天気に関しては今一つでした--------> For the most part, Great, but, weather-wise, things could have been better.
それは残念でしたね---------> Oh、I’m sorry to hear that.

＊What a pity. ——辞書には「残念、悲しいなぁ」などと載っていて、上記の状況の時に使えそうな気がしてしまいますが、直接、その残念な思いをした方には使わないように！
That's too bad. I'm sorry to hear that. を使うように！

（会話練習3）
どうしたの（友人が落ち込んでいる様子を見て）-----------> What’s wrong?
私の鳥が死んでしまいました-------> My bird died.
それは本当にお気の毒です/ 残念ですね--------> Oh, I’m so sorry.
（そう言ってくれて）ありがとう---------> Thank you.

【 things could have been ..... ～になる可能性があった　】
*（例）天気の面ではひどかった、というより、天気の面では（その旅は）もっとよくなる可能性があった、という前向きな会話になるので、英語では否定するより「より良くなる可能性がある」というような表現が多く使われます
Things could have been less/ more形容詞
物事はもっと予測できたかもしれない（実際は予測できなかった）-------> Things could have been less predictable
状況は好転していたかもしれない--------> Things could have been upbeat.
Things could have been better.を「今一つ」「いまいち」と訳しましたが、意味としては「あまりよくない」ということです
Things could be worse. ---------> (これから悪くなる可能性がある）→（現状は）悪くないよ

【AとBを関連付ける】
AとBを関連付ける、AとBを結びつける--------> A is related to B
Aと関連がある/ Aに共感する-------> I can relate to A.
～との関係--------> A/the /my relationship to/ with
AはBと関係ない-------> A has no relationship with B

４、 almostは　～するところだった、というときに使うーー　過去形の動詞と一緒に使う

わたしはこのような服が好きですがドライクリーニングしてもらわなければなりません----->I like these kinds of clothes, but we have to have them dry cleaned.
私はたいてい二か月に一度マニュキュア（ジェルネイル）をしてもらいます------->I usually have my nails done once every two months.
私のコンピューターは友人によって直されました------> My computer was repaired by my friend.

【most, most of, almost, mostly】
