件数(症例数)という意味のthe ~ cases が主語の場合は複数なのでその後に続く動詞はbe動詞ならare, wereになる
新聞によるとコロナの症例数はほぼ2000件です--------> According to the newspaper, the number of COVID cases in Gunma is almost 2,000. ------> ほぼ2000

Severity(セヴェラティ)-------> 重症度
前の(感染の)波と比べて、第7波は数に関してはもっとも悪いですが重症度に関しては症状は軽度です-------->Compare to the previous waves, the seventh wave time is the worst when it comes to the number, but when it comes to severity their symptoms are mild.
前の波に比べると数の面では今回はもっとも悪いですが深刻さは最小限です---------> Compare to the previous waves this time it is the worst number-wise, but it is the least severe.
