【復習：fog up】
温度のせいで私のメガネは冬のように曇った(動詞として）-------> Because of the temperature my glasses fogged up like during winter.
シャワーを浴びた後、鏡はいつも曇ります。（曇るという状態なので形容詞）-------> After I take a shower my mirror is always fogged up.
大雨、豪雨------> Heavy rain ⇔ 小雨-------> light rain
霧雨-------> drizzle, mist
【tear, tear up】
tear -----> (名詞）涙 （発音：ティア）
tear up -------> (動詞）目に涙をためる （ティア アップ）
*発音で意味が変わる

tear off ------> 引き裂く、破る (発音；テアオフ)
私は障子に穴をあけた--------> I tore a hole in the shoji.
彼女の結婚式の日に、彼女はバラの茂みのそばを歩いてトゲでドレスを破ってしまいました------> On her wedding day, she walked to close to a rose bush and tore her dress on a thorn.
私はパンツを破ってしまった-------> I tore my pants.

knock over --------> 同じ高さで倒す (猫が何かを倒す、あなたの肘が当たって何かを倒す）
knock off --------> 下に倒す

地震の間、幸いなことに私のコンピューターは柔らかいソファの上に落ちたので壊れなかった-------> During the earthquake, fortunately, my computer fell on to the soft sofa, so it wasn’t broken.
私がブドウを食べているとき、その一つがソファの下の私の手の届かないところへ落ちました---------> When I was eating grapes, one fell just out of my reach under the sofa.
一つが ギリギリ手が届くところへ落ちた---------> one fell within my reach under the sofa.
私がかわいい猫を撫でるためにかがんだとき、私のメガネはシャツのポケットから落ちました-------> When I leaned over to pet a cute cat, my glasses fell out of my shirt pocket.

【会話練習 the 比較級, the 比較級】
＊The sooner the better. (早ければ早いほどいい）この文型はよく使われます。これを一つ覚えておけばThe +比較級+the +比較級 の形を思い出すことができると思います。（比較級は形容詞が１音節なら形容詞+er, 2音節以上ならmore +形容詞）
どこに座りましょうか（レストランなどで）-------> Where shall we sit?
窓に近ければ近いほどいい--------> The closer to the window the better
化粧室から遠ければ遠いほどいい--------> The farther away from the bathroom the better.
いつ行きましょうか-------> When should we go?
早ければ早いほどいいです-------> The earlier the better. / The sooner the better.
私たちのパーティーのためにどのくらいワインを買えばいいですか-------> How much wine should we buy for our party?
