Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception

The Opening Ceremony will begin with the processional entrance of Lady Godiva as part of Godiva’s Odyssey. The larger than life Lady Godiva puppet will awake on campus and will walk along the main University Road, guiding all delegates to Warwick Arts Centre.

Once inside the Butterworth Hall, delegates will be presented with a welcome address from Chris Balme and the IFTR Executive Committee, a University of Warwick Representative and the Mayor of Coventry. This will then be followed by a Keynote from Mike Pearson.
After an hour break where you can explore the campus and the different areas of the conference, will be a performance of Broken from Motionhouse at 7.15pm, which will take place at Warwick Arts Centre and be streamed live on the Warwick Piazza and the Big Screen in Coventry City Centre. As this event is being streamed live, we ask that you are seated by 7.10pm

Tickets for a seat in the Theatre will be distributed on a first come, first served basis from the Registration Desk in the Mead Gallery from 8am Monday 27th July.
Delegates who don’t get a ticket will be able to watch the live stream on the Piazza or on the Big Screen in Coventry City Centre.
Once the performance has finished, come to the heart of the conference in the Warwick Arts Centre to our Welcome Reception with a choice of wines and a buffet for all to enjoy, rounding off what we hope to be a fantastic kickstart to the IFTR Conference week.
The Opening Ceremony is sponsored by the Warwick Commission on the Future of Cultural Value.
