Edward Bernaysはフロイトの甥である。偶然彼のことを知ったのだが、フロイトの理論がその後どのように発展したか、を知ることが出来た。私見を言うと資本主義の道具となってきたのだ。つまりＰＲやプロパガンダという大衆心理の心理学的操作である。

EdwardのことはAdam CurtisのTHE CENTURY OF THE SELF によって知った。この時私はAdam Curtisの凄さに圧倒され、Edwardのことに神経が回らなかった。がフロイトの心理学がどのように発展したかを見た場合、その社会に与えた影響と言う点でEdwardを見過ごすわけにはいかなくなった。
