Naomi Osaka

2021-09-05 08:42:18 | 日記
Hi there! Jun Tomioka here.

Now, The US Open Tennis Tournament is being held in New York.
Yesterday, Naomi Osaka who is Japanese No1 female player, appeared.

Her opponent was Leylah Fernandez from Canada.
She is still 18 years old. (She will become 19 years old tomorrow)
It was the first time for them to play a match.

It was a close game.
Naomi got the 1st set by the score 7-5.
Leylah got back 2nd set by the score 7-6.
The match proceeded to the final set.
Leylah got the 3rd set by the score 6-4.
She beat Naomi who is the defending champion in this tournament!

They say that Naomi was disappointed to lose the game very much.
But I think she did her best in that game.
I hope she will recover and play well again.

Kei Nishikori

2021-09-04 07:36:43 | 日記
Hi there! Jun Tomioka here.

Now, The US Open Tennis Tournament is being held in New York.
I’m rooting for Kei Nishikori who is a Japanese male No1 player.

He played in the 2nd round yesterday.
Because of the time difference between Japan and the USA, I got up
at 4 am in the morning and watched TV.

His opponent was Mackenzie McDonald from the USA.
He is young and has a lot of guts.

It was a close game.
Kei got the 1st and 2nd set but McDonald got back the 3rd
and 4th set. Then, the game proceeded to the final set.

I had to leave home to work even though the game wasn’t over yet.
I watched the game on my smart phone while getting on the train.
And finally, Kei won the game.
I almost cried in the train.

His next opponent will be Novak Dokovic who is No1 in the world.
The game will be tough but I hope Kei will play well and win.

Coffee

2021-09-03 07:27:13 | 日記
Hi there! Jun Tomioka here.

Due to the pandemic, I tend to stay and work at home.
When I do my paper works, I drink many cups of coffee.

I checked the benefits of coffee through the internet.

There are 3 main benefits.
Firstly, coffee contains caffeine.
Caffeine makes our brain awake.
Because of it, we can concentrate on our work better.

Secondly, coffee contains polyphenol.
When it comes to polyphenol, red wine is well known but
coffee contains polyphenol as much as red wine.
They say that polyphenol is effective to prevent cancer,
arteriosclerosis, and myocardial infraction.
And also they say that it prevents the damaging of skin from
UV rays.

And thirdly, coffee has an effect that causes us to relax.
When I smell and drink coffee, I feel good and release from
my stress.

Coffee is essential for me.

3-set match, 5-set match

2021-09-02 08:01:10 | 日記
One of the "Grand Slam" - biggest professional tennis tournaments
in the world, "The US Open" has started.

Usual games in other tournaments have 3 sets for both men and
women division.

In a 3-set match, the player who'll win 2 sets will be hailed
as the winner.

This is same for the women's division in Grand Slam tournaments.
However, for men's division, in Grand Slam tournaments, they play
5-set match.

In a 5-set match, the player who will dominate 3 sets,
will win the game.

This means to say that if a player wins 3 straight sets,
4th and 5th sets are no longer needed.

However, since most players are very good, games often reach
the 5th set. It becomes a very long and interesting game.
Sometimes, it takes 5 hours!

I'm looking forward to watching many long and exciting tennis
matches in The US Open.

How about you, have you watched any of the games yet?
Let me know in the comments.

Online Seminar

2021-09-01 08:00:55 | 日記
Hi there! Jun Tomioka here.

I am a freelancer but I work as a manager of one of the training
organizations.
I plan some seminars and assist them.
Yesterday, we held an online seminar.

I made sure that participants had fun and enjoyed the seminar.
If an instructor speaks one way, people usually get bored
so I want to make sure participants will also participate for them
to interact and express their thoughts and opinions.
We also had discussions and time for questions sometimes.

The instructor gave many useful information and participants also
asked questions to him.
There was no trouble with data communication, neither.

The seminar was successful.
I was relieved.
