The cherry trees on the bank of the canal was in full bloom this year as well. In Japan, we can see a splendid cherry trees here and there, even if they are not famous places of the flowers. It means, there were the people who planted the cherry trees, here and there, at one time.
It's been almost 15 years before.... There was a lonely road along with a canal. A waste staff has been often dumped beside the road and the traffic was sparse. One autumn day, the young cherry tree were planted in the bank of the waterway. They are all leggy, naked, the shaft is a little larger than Quarter coin.
Some colds of winter have been passed, the cherry trees came into small flowers. Although there were some trees which fell on the strong wind in winter. When I saw the trees were having supported with the posts, it is obvious there is someone whose protecting the cherry tree.
Before long, the tree of cherry have been extended greatly and turned into splendid roadside trees. It is much higher than people's height. Since a branch has become thickly so that the supports are not needed any more.
On a warmly spring day, those who come to take a walk on road of a cherry tree are increased. There is no one who dump garbage anymore. People who walk are looks joyful and their faces bright.
My friend says, "Although there are many fruit trees like a peach in China, there is little cherry trees which enjoys only flowers". In Japan, there is a fairy tale written by Kenji Miyazawa, "Ken-ju Park Woods." This is the story of a man who saved some money to buy day-by-day afternoon snacks and planted the young trees. It became a splendid park woods, eventualy. Many people enjoys under the trees even after the death of the man who planted the trees.
I am please to say "a fairy tale is living in Japan".
