143篇 神の御手の業を静かに考える
1．文脈と背景
表題には「ダビデの賛歌」とあります。またギリシア語の七十人訳聖書には、「彼を息子が追っていた時の」と補足があり、執筆背景は、アブサロムの反逆の時と推測されます。しかし実際には、この詩篇もダビデ風に詠まれた歌ではないか、と考える学者もいます。七つの悔い改めの詩篇の最後のものです（6、32、38、51、102、130、143篇）
まず詩人は祈っています「あなたの真実と義によって、私に答えてください。」裁判においては裁判官の誠実さに期待が寄せられるように、人間の力の及ばぬ問題については、これをお取り扱う、神の誠実さに期待せざるを得ません。ただ、現実問題として、神に対する期待感が弱められることがあります。どんなに待っても、神が適切に動いてくださらない、と思われることがあるものです。「敵は私のたましいを追いつめ、私のいのちを地に打ちつけ、死んで久しい者のように、私を闇にとどめます。それゆえ、私の霊は私のうちで衰え果て、心は私の中で、荒れすさんでしまいました。」（3，4節）。と心が折れてしまうことがあるものです。
2．神の御業を思い巡らす
そこで重要なのは、著者が「昔の日々を思い起こし、あなたのすべてのみわざに思いを巡らし、あなたの御手のわざを静かに考え」（5節）」ていることです。神が自分に何がおできになるのかを思い出すのです。自らの経験において、また、キリスト者の歴史において、さらには、人類全体の歴史とその創造において、神は何をしてこられたのか、を。もはや心は限界を過ぎ、行き詰まっている。いや滅びかかっている（7節）。もう手遅れだ、と思う状況にある時にこそ、冷静になって、合理的に主の可能性を考えてみるのです。そうすれば、そこに主への期待が生じるでしょう。神は、約束を守られるお方で、神に偽りはありません。神のことばは真実であり力があるのです。
3．ただ神の助けを祈る
ただ詩人は弱り切っています。その中で、詩人は、三度神に手を引いていただくように心から願っています。「行くべき道を知らせてください」（8節）私たちにはそれぞれ固有の道があります。ヨハネにはヨハネ、ペテロにはペテロの道があったように（ヨハネ21:21-22）人が神に招かれる道は、それぞれ固有です。また、「あなたのみ心を行うことを教えてください。」（10節）と祈っています。どうしても私たちは、自分の満足を求めやすいものです。自分の気持ちが楽になること、あるいは自分が浮かばれることをまず考えやすいものです。しかし、それもまた空しいことです。最後に著者は、「平らな地にわたしを導いてくださいますように」（10節）と単純に祈ります。行く先がわかっても、進む力がない、と思うこともあるでしょう。必要なのは、今日一日を進む、乗り切る命です（11節）。いや、その一日を進む自分の前に立ちはだかる障害を取り除いてくださることです（12節）。それほどまでに、神任せでよいのか、と思うところであるが、詩人は、そう祈っているのではないでしょうか。
私たちは神の最善をはかり知ることができません。それはちょうど、イエスが、ラザロに会うのをわざわざ遅らせたことが理解できない弟子たちと同じです。しかしイエスはご自分のなそうとしていることを知っておられ、ご自身の栄光を現わされました（ヨハネ11章）。私たちが考える最善以上に、神の栄光が現わされる結末があるでしょう。主よ、あなたの栄光を現わしてください。あなたがなそうとしておられることを、私の暗闇の内になしてください、と祈らせていただきましょう。

Psalm 143: Quietly Considering the Work of God's Hands
1. context and background
The title of the book is "David's Hymn." The Greek translation of the Bible of the Septuagint adds "when his son was pursuing him," suggesting that the context of writing was the time of Absalom's rebellion. In fact, however, some scholars believe that the psalm may also be a song composed in the Davidic style. It is the last of the seven Psalms of Repentance (Psalms 6, 32, 38, 51, 102, 130, 143)
First, the psalmist prays, "Answer me according to your truth and righteousness." Just as in a trial, we expect the integrity of the judge, so we must expect God's integrity in dealing with matters beyond human control. However, the reality is that our expectations of God are sometimes weakened. Sometimes it seems that no matter how long we wait, God will not act appropriately. The enemy has pursued my soul, he has cast my life to the ground, he has kept me in darkness as though I had been dead for a long time. Therefore my spirit is wasted away in me, and my heart has become desolate within me" (vv. 3, 4). (vv. 3, 4). The heart can be broken.
2. contemplating God's work
It is important to note that the author "recalls the days of old and meditates on all your works, quietly considering the deeds of your hands" (v. 5). We are to remember what God can do for us. What God has done in his own experience, in the history of Christians, and even in the history of the entire human race and its creation. The mind is no longer limited, it is at a standstill. No, it is perishing (v. 7). It is precisely when we are in a situation where we think it is too late, that we should calm down and rationally consider the Lord's possibilities. Then there will be an expectation of the Lord. God is the One who keeps His promises, and there is no falsehood in Him. God's word is true and powerful.
3. just pray for God's help
But the psalmist is weak. In the midst of all this, the psalmist sincerely asks God to take his hand three times. Let me know the way I should go" (v. 8) We each have our own unique path. Just as John had his way and Peter had his way (John 21:21-22), each person's path to God is unique. Also, "Teach us to do Your will." (v. 10), we pray. Inevitably, we tend to seek our own satisfaction. We tend to think first of what will make us feel comfortable or what will make us feel good about ourselves. But that, too, is empty. Finally, the author simply prays, "Lead me to a level place" (v. 10). You may think that even if you know where you are going, you don't have the strength to go on. What we need is the life to go on and get through the day (v. 11). No, we need God to remove the obstacles that stand in our way as we go about our day (v. 12). One wonders if it is right to leave that much up to God. But isn't that what the psalmist is praying for?
We cannot measure God's best for us. It is just like the disciples who could not understand why Jesus deliberately delayed meeting Lazarus. But Jesus knew what He was going to do, and He revealed His glory (John 11). There will be an ending in which God's glory will be revealed beyond what we think is best. Lord, reveal your glory. Let me pray that you will do in my darkness what you are about to do.
