屋久島の秘境白川山に行きました。
詩人の山尾三省さんの家の前を通り過ぎるとお寺というか、
30年前自分で建てたという道林和尚72歳は一人でこのお寺で
ご修行されていました。
電気は来ていましたが、水道はなしで湧き水と木の煖炉が
キッチンです。
2歳半のあまやちゃんも道なき道を、お母さんに手をとって
もらいながら凸凹川の石段をスイスイと、怖さ知らずで天使の
ように渡切りました。ヒヤヒヤこわ〜でした。
道林和尚は曹洞宗のお坊さんです。
娘の亡くなったお父さんも曹洞宗なので、2回忌のお供養を
して頂きました。
道林和尚は70過ぎてから体力が衰えて来ましたと、言われて
おりましたがそれでもお一人で生活されておりました。
シアトル、東京から屋久島まで来るのも最果てにきた感じです
のに、屋久島の秘境の山奥に迄連れて来られたのも、先祖の
お導きでしょうか。
鹿児島の島津藩から島送りになった大名や武士達が屋久島に
島送りにになり、地元には優秀なDNAが継承されているとか
お聞きしました。
最後に苔庭を案内頂き、清々しい時間を過ごしました。

We went to the unexplored region of Yakushima, Mt. Shirako
As soon as we passed Yamao Sansho's house, 72-year-old
Dorin-osho was training alone in a temple -like hut that he built
himself 30 years ago.
There was electricity, but there was no running water, but spring
water was used, and the wood fireplace was the kitchen.
Two-and-a-half-year-old Amaya crossed the stone steps of
the uneven river like an angel without fear, while her mother
took her hand on the road. It was scary.
Dorin Osho is a Soto sect monk. My daughter's deceased
father was also a Soto sect, so he held a memorial service
for the second anniversary.
Osho Dorin was said to have lost his physical strength after
he turned 70.
Coming from Seattle to Tokyo to Yakushima feels like the end
of the world. However, I wonder if it was the guidance of our
ancestors that brought us to the unexplored mountains of Yakushima.
A long time ago, feudal lords and samurai who were sent to
the island from the Shimazu clan in Kagoshima were sent to
Yakushima. So, I heard that this island has inherited excellent DNA.
Thanks to Osho Dorin's kind words, we visited the Moss Temple and
had a refreshing time.
