* 上の２つは意味は一緒。　比較級のとき　(形容詞＋er)か（more＋形容詞）か悩むようなら、(not as・・・as)を使う方がおすすめ。

【avoid / put off / delay 】

He avoids　going to the dentist until he can't endure the pain (anymore)

彼は痛みを我慢できなくなるまで歯医者へ行くのを避ける


He puts off going to the dentist until he can't endure the pain (anymore).

彼は痛みを我慢できなくなるまで歯医者へ行くのを延期する

★endure 　耐える


I put off making newyears card until the last minute.

私は最後の最後まで年賀状を書くのを延ばす

His depature is delayed.

postpone（延期する）日にちを決めて延期
put off　（延期する）しなければいけないことを先延ばしするイメージ

* no と not　の違いに注意

（air 空気は数えられない名詞なので単数扱い＝is,wasを使う）

There were no holes in my shoe.
私の靴に穴はない

（hole　穴は数えられる名詞なので　holes　sがつく　複数形なのでare,wereをつかう）

On the 11th(of March) Japan had an unprecedented and strong eathquake.

１１日に日本で前例のない強い地震があった


The quake caused a lot of damege
その地震は多くの被害を引き起こした

but the tunami completely destroyed several coastal villages and town.
一方で津波は完全にいくつかの海岸の村と町を破壊した

エレベーターは動きません

After the earthquake the trains weren't running.
地震の後、列車は動いていなかった
