語彙の蒐集

日本語を英訳したいとき、対応する単語を一対一で英訳せずに自分の知っている単語で言い換えることが大事という意見があるが、今の自分の見解では、それは誤りである。

第一に、無理矢理言い換えたものの相手に話が通じたことなんでほぼなかったという経験則、第二に、言い換えたことによって俺が自分の伝えたいことが伝えられた満足を得られたことなどなかったからだ。

普段の自分の言い回しの癖を掴み、自分が言いたいことをちゃんと伝える語彙を身につけることを考えるべきである。

when we want to translate japanese into english, some people said that it is important to rephrase what you said using your own knowledge than translate one by one by dictionary, but so far I can't agree with it.

First, even if I think I was able to rephrase, but listener rarely understood what I want to say, and secondly, I haven't experienced to get satisfaction by rephrasing. Always I felt that something is wrong.

We should think about our usual habits of expression and acquire a vocabulary that can tell the listener what we want to say properly.
