Save pets!

I read an article about Ukraine on the internet news.

Since Russia started to invade Ukraine, 2.7 million Ukrainian
have escaped abroad.
Victims are not only people but also pets.

One society for the prevention of animals made the facility
for pets on the border between Ukraine and Poland.
They prevent the pets who were isolated there.

Meanwhile, it's safe to live in Japan.
I have a pet dog and I consider him as a family member.
However, sometimes I am afraid of natural disasters
like earthquakes, typhoons and etc. happening in my country.
I hope that we could escape them together.

Summer here we come.

Hi there! Jun Tomioka here.

Until last week, we used to experience cold weather.
But a sudden change happened when a very warm temperature
was felt yesterday.

The temperature in Tokyo was recorded at 24.1 degrees.
followed by 21.5 degrees in Osaka.
The highest temperature was in Kumagaya City, Saitama which
Is 25.7 degrees! Indeed, It’s officially summer!

I’m happy I will be spending my days with a nice and
warm temperature as opposed to the cold winter months
which is now finally over!

What is the origin of White Day?

Hi there! Jun Tomioka here.

Today, the 14th of March, is the White Day.
It’s the day that men give women some gifts as a return gift
for the Valentine gifts.

The custom that women give men chocolate on the Valentine in Japan
was the idea made by Merry Chocolate Company in 1958.
So, who thought the White Day?

They say that there are three theories.
1. Fujiya and Eiwa thought it.
2. Ishimura Manseido thought it.
3. Japan Candy Association thought it.
Anyway, all of them are companies or organizations related to sweets.
It means that the White Day came as the campaign to boost the sweets
industry.

At first, this campaign used to say “Send marshmallow in return for
Valentine!”
Since marshmallow is white, the name of the day is ‘White DAY’.

The Result of My Medical Checkup

Hi there! Jun Tomioka here.

Yesterday, I went to see a doctor to know the result of my medical
checkup that I had the other day.

The doctor kindly explained about the data but I was not able to
understand it very well. In conclusion, I didn’t have a big problem.

Only one thing concerning was neutral fat.
I was told I need to lower it.
The doctor gave me advice about diet and exercise.

Since I didn’t exercise very much this winter, I gained weight.
I will be more conscious about my diet and try to exercise regularluy
to keep my health.

Frozen Foods use are on the rise

Hi there! Jun Tomioka here.

I read the NIKKEI MJ(Marketing Journal)recently and
it talked about increased market sales of frozen foods.
The amount of sales of frozen foods for house use in Japan
in 2020 was much bigger compared to 2019.

This was brought about by the pandemic where people
do not have much choice but to stay home longer.
Thus, the use of frozen foods rapidly increased at that time
especially during the surge of the pandemic.

For me, This news is very convincing as in my experience
I tend to stay home longer than before and have resorted
to eat frozen foods like pasta, pilaf, and so on.
The taste of frozen food is as good as the home cooked meals as
food companies are making their efforts to develop better foods.

The only one thing concerning is the price
as the ingredients is soaring rapidly high.
I hope the price will become stable as soon as possible.
