「ニフティ？ ニフティといえば、日本のものじゃん。そんな題の曲、聞いたこともないなあ。」とぶつぶつ言いつつ、グーグルで調べたら、一発で山のようにヒットしました。有名な歌らしい（驚愕）。

つまり、アルファベット順にアメリカの50州を覚えるための歌なんです。
娘は、メロディーがないと覚えられないと言うので、歌が出てこないかも調べたんですけど、著作権の関係からか音楽が出るページがありません。そこで、ヒットしたYoutubeを見てみたら、Wow！ たくさんありますねえ。こういうときYoutubeは無茶苦茶便利ですねえ。
どうやら4th gradeまたは5th gradeで習う歌のようです。
でもですね、これを音楽の時間に習うというのはどうなんでしょう？ もう少し普遍的な歌を習ってほしいなあと私は思います。日本の音楽の授業のほうが、日本の歌から世界の歌まで習って、ずっと偏りがないような気がします。
偏りといえば、アメリカの小学校では毎朝星条旗とアメリカ合衆国に誓いを立てることは有名ですよね。娘ももちろん毎朝このプレッジ（The Pledge of Allegiance）をやっています。胸に手を当て、教室にある星条旗を見つめて、以下のような言葉を唱えます。
I pledge allegianceto the flag
of the United States of America
and to the Republicfor which it stands,
one nation,under God,indivisible,
with liberty and justice for all.
（私は、アメリカ国旗と、神の下に堅く一つの国として結ばれ、

金曜日には全校集会がありますが、ここでは学校の生徒全員が集まってこれを唱えます。息子のようなキンダーの子も。
前の学校の娘のクラスでは、プレッジをやった後で必ず歌も歌いました。
