右の写真は、東車塚古墳出土の「三角縁神獣鏡」（さんかくぶちしんじゅうきょう）である。
同じ鋳型から作られた「同笵鏡（どうはんきょう）」である。聞きなれない言葉である。
「同笵鏡」を研究する歴史家は、この鏡を次のように説明している。
これは、「有力な豪族が、同盟を結んだ印として地方の豪族に与えた鏡である」と。
従って、「同笵鏡」の分布の範囲から、当時の勢力関係が分かると言うのである。
加古川地方を支配した豪族は、大和（奈良）地方の豪族から、この鏡を与えられていた。
加古川地方の豪族は４・５世紀には大和の豪族と同盟関係を持っていたことになる。
大和の豪族と同盟関係を結ぶことにより、加古川地方の豪族は、自らの地位を高めることができた。敵から攻められた時は、応援を求めることができたのである。
加古川地方は吉備（岡山）地方に備えた、大和の勢力の最前線基地でもあった。

What does One Mirror Tell?
One mirror was excavated from the East Kuruma-zuka Burial Mound. It is called Sankaku-buchi Shinju Kyo (a mirror of traiangular eadge drawing gods and beasts on it's furface).
It became clear that this mirror was a copy made from same mold, Dohankyo. This is not a commonly used word.
Historians who are studying Dohankyo concidered about them as a symbol of their alliance.
Therefore, by investigating the distribution of these mirrors, the political relations in those days can be studied.
The clan that ruled near Hioka-yama was given this mirror from a powerful family in Yamato (Nara) district.
The clan of Hioka-yama was controlled by the Yamato rulers around the 4-5 century.
Having an alliance with the Yamato clans was useful for the Hioka-yama clan.
It enhanced their authority and they were able to seek aid from Ymato clans when they were attacked from outside.
Kakogawa district was influenced by the Yamato clans and by the Kibi (Okayama Pref.) clans.
Kakogawa clans could serve as a bulwark for the Yamato clans.
