【マスクに関する規制】
3月のいつか、私たちは、リラックスするためにマスクをつけないという選択肢もあります--------> Sometime in March, we have a choice not to wear a mask to be relaxed.
重大な--------> serious
厳しい------> severe, strict, harsh
severe ------->深刻、過酷さの程度が大きい
strict------> 厳守、厳格さを表わす
harsh -------> 特に人に対して過酷である
When it comes to～ -------> ～に関しては
登山に関しては私は安全です-------> When it comes to climbing mountains, I am safe.
コーヒーに関しては熱ければ熱いほどいい--------> When it comes to coffee, the hotter the better(for me).

policies-------> 会社などの方針、政府の政策、
regulation--------> 法規、規制（規制、取り締まり、規定、規範、条例、法規）

against------->(前置詞）(行動や計画などに)反対して、反して
これはルール違反です---------> This is against a rule.
opposed------> (形容詞）反対して、反して
【比較級 more than, better】
＊今回の比較級のためのおさらい＊
①A is 形容詞（1音節） + er than B. (AはBより～だ）
My computer is older than yours （私のコンピューターはあなたのものより古い）
②A is more 形容詞（2音節以上）than B. (AはBより～だ）
My computer is more expensive than yours. (私のコンピューターはあなたのより高価）
＊上の①②の例文を日本語に翻訳するとどちらが古いのか、どちらが高価なのか混乱するかもしれません。
英語は大事なこと、言いたいことが先に来る言語です。①の例文、My computer is older...と言えば（私のコンピューターがより古い）という意味です。そのあと比較したいものが後に来るだけです
②の例文もMy computer is more expensive....は（私のコンピューターがより高価）
③A is less 形容詞（2音節）than B. (AはBより～でない）
Your computer is less expensive than mine. (あなたのコンピューターは私のより安価です）
④I like A more than B. (私はAがBより好き）/ I believe A more than B. （私はAをBより信じている）/ I use A more than B. (私はA をBより使う）動詞で比較する場合 ＊使い方は限定的です。
I like tennis more than soccer. (私はテニスの方がサッカーより好きです）
参考までに）過去には中学英語で I like tennis better than soccer.と教わったかもしれません。ですが、実際にはアメリカ人に多く使われているのはmore thanという統計があります。講師もlikeA more thanB と教えています
⑤good / well の比較級はbetter. badの比較級はworse.
A is better than B. (AはBより良い、優れている）/ A is worse than B. （AはBより悪い、劣っている）
My computer is better than yours. (私のコンピューターはあなたのより良い）
Your computer is worse than mine. ( あなたのコンピューターは私のより悪い）
主語+be動詞 +better at A than B. （主語はAがBより上手）＊be good at ～（～が上手）
＊誰かと比較しない時は He is good at cooking. (彼は料理が上手）になるが、誰かと比較したいときはHe is better at cooking than his mother. (彼は彼の母親より料理が上手）となる
訳文のつけ方について。一般的に、比較級の場合、学校などでは I like spring more than autumn. 「私は秋より春の方が好きです」と訳すと思います。ブログ管理人は敢えて「私は春の方が秋より好きです」という語順にすることで英語の意味が分かりやすくなると思っています。
また、下の例文ではI play tennis better than golf.「私はテニスの方がゴルフより上手い」としていますが「私はテニスの方がゴルフよりよい」と訳すと日本語では「テニスの方が好き」という意味になってしまう可能性があるので敢えて「上手」と訳を付けています。betterの元々の意味はgoodの比較級です。
訳に違和感を感じる場合はご自分の理解しやすい訳を考えてください。

最近、私はよくスマートフォンをコンピューターより使う---------> Recently I often use my smartphone more than my computer.
私は歩くほうがサイクリングより好きです----------> I like walking more than cycling.

私は冬のスポーツの方が夏のスポーツより好きです--------> I like winter sports more than summer sports.
私は彼よりもあなたを信じています(私はあなたをより信じている、彼があなたを信じているのより）---------> I believe you more than he does. (I believe you more than he believes you.ということなのでbelieve you の繰り返しを避けるためhe doesになる）
私はフランス語をドイツ語より容易に話すことができます--------> I can speak French more easily than German.
私はスマートフォンの方がコンピューターより多く使う（量的なこと）--------> I use my smartphone more than my computer.
(less than)
私はコンピューターの方がスマートフォンより使うのが少ない-------> I use my computer less than my smartphone.
私は走るのより歩きたい(私は歩きたい、走るのよりも）---------> I want to walk less than to run. (less thanはmore thanの反対の意味）
(better than/ be better at)
この種類の植物を育てるには春の方が秋より良い（適している）--------> To grow this kind of plant spring is better than fall.
私は妹よりパンを上手に焼くことができる--------> I can bake bread better than my sister can.
私はテニスの方がゴルフより上手い---------> I play tennis better than golf.
私はゴルフをするのがテニスをするのより上手です--------> I am better at playing golf than playing tennis.
私はゴルフが上手です。友人もゴルフが上手です。でも私の方が彼女よりゴルフが上手です--------> I’m good at golf. My friend is good at golf too, but I am better at golf than she is.
ハチミツは甘い、砂糖も甘い、でもハチミツの方が砂糖よりあなたの健康のためにはより良いです---------> Honey is sweet. Sugar is sweet too, but honey is better than sugar for your health.
体力維持のためには登山の方が水泳より良い--------> Climbing mountains is better than swimming to keep my physical strength.
私は野菜を育てるのが上手です、野菜を料理するのも上手です。でも、育てるほうがより上手です---------> I am good at growing vegetables and I am good at cooking vegetables too, but I’m better at growing (than cooking)

効率性の面ではLEDライトの方が蛍光灯より優れている--------> Efficiency-wise, LED light is better than fluorescent light.
