昨日届いたお便りで、それは見事な達筆で和歌を習い始めたとしたためてありました。
私も優美な古今和歌集や万葉集など大好きですが、ここまでくれば彼女のはもはや芸術の域です。

Miura is a renowned watermelon-producing area. I had been eagerly anticipating the watermelon sales, and Sharu-kun loves them too. Watermelon rinds with some flesh left on them are also good for horses. They make a great snack to help them get through the summer.
Today, I bought some at the local vegetable market and enjoyed them very much. Along with corn, watermelons are one of the joys of summer.

I’ve been teaching English conversation to a friend for over a year now.
I believe that it’s important to enjoy learning, and that by continuing steadily, the knowledge will naturally stick.
My approach has been one of trial and error, but this time, for a change of pace, I decided to incorporate a card system I bought over 40 years ago for my children.
The cards are designed to be used with an audio system.
Will it be effective? Time will tell.

20日間の四国遍路の旅を終えてパパが帰ってきました。
コロナ禍で行けないうちに様変わりしていたようです。外国人のお遍路さん（それも様々な国から）が増えたり、コロナのために遍路宿は閉めざるを得なかったところが何件かあったりしたようです。
いまようやくもとに戻りつつあるようです。
増えた外国人の遍路客には、宿のご主人は翻訳ソフトを使って応対しているそうです。
50数年前つまり私が若いころは、必死で英会話を暗記しそれを使って交流を楽しんだものでした。京都のお寺に住んでいたので
多くの外国人に会えました。
今はスマホを使って意思疎通ができるようになりました。
なんと世の中変わりましたね。
After a 20-day pilgrimage around Shikoku, my husband has returned home.
During the pandemic, he couldn't go, and it seems things have changed quite a bit. There are now more foreign pilgrims from various countries, and several pilgrim lodgings had to close down due to COVID-19.
It seems that things are finally starting to return to normal.
The owners of the lodgings are using translation software to communicate with the increased number of foreign pilgrims.
About fifty years ago, when I was young, I would desperately memorize English conversation phrases and enjoyed interacting using them. Living in a temple in Kyoto, I was able to meet many foreigners.
Now, people can communicate using smartphones.
