ユートピアは鹿児島に

霧島の山麓のなだらかな斜面に、引退場たち１５０頭が余生をすごしている。

ホーストラストという牧場を２０１３年４月におとずれた。

その地が昨日の朝日新聞に取り上げられていた。引退した馬たちを救いたいと小西氏が立ち上げた馬たちのユｰトﾋﾟｱだ。

年老いたときシャル君がいくにどうかなと見に行ったのだが、やはり手元においておきたかった。

シャル君にとってはどちらがいいのかわからないだろうが、私はやはりいつでもあえるとこに居てほしいと思っています。

On the gentle slope at the foothills of Mount Kirishima, 150 retired horses spend their remaining years.

I visited a ranch called Horse Trust in April 2013.

That place was featured in yesterday's Asahi Shimbun. It's a utopia for horses launched by Mr. Konishi, who wanted to save retired horses.

When Sharu-kun grew old, I went to see how he was doing at the ranch, but I still wanted to keep him close by.

Sharu-kun may not know which is better for him, but I personally think he should be where I can meet him anytime.

小鳥のたのしみ

シャル君の馬房の近くの梅の木が花をつけはじめました。いろんな小鳥が来るのが楽しみです。

風は冷たいけれど梅の花は春の兆しを告げてくれます。

シャル君はとてもげんきで乗り運動では先生を振り落としそうな勢いでした。

その後湿った場所でゴロンして、泥を落とすのに時間がかかりました。

でもシャル君が幸せならOK！

The plum tree near Sharu-kun's stable has started to blossom. I'm looking forward to the various little birds that will visit.

Although the wind is cold, the plum blossoms herald the arrival of spring.

Sharu-kun is very energetic, and during riding exercises, he almost threw the instructor off with his vigor.

After that, he rolled around in a damp spot, and it took a long time to get the mud off him.

But as long as Sharu-kun is happy, it's all OK!

体が大切

雪を頂いた富士山の美しい景色を冬になると楽しめるのに、シャル君が前右肢を痛めてからゆっくり眺めていません。

馬房からここに来るのに坂になっているので、肢に負担がかかるといけないので平らなところしか歩かせていません。

ほぼ回復していますがやはり年齢を考慮してあげないといけないかなと思っています。

それに２６才の年齢の馬には吹き抜けのつめたい風もよくないかもしれません。

Although we can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Mount Fuji capped with snow in winter, I haven't been able to slowly admire it since my horse, Sharu, hurt his front right leg.

Since the path from the stable here is sloped, I haven't let him walk anywhere but on flat ground, to avoid straining his leg.

He has almost fully recovered, but considering his age, I think I still need to be careful.

Additionally, the cold, drafty winds might not be good for a 26-year-old horse.

馬のレインコート

土曜日は午後から雨の予報だったのですが、8時半くらいから降り始めました。

雨の日は、とくに冬の冷たい雨にぬれて人馬とも風邪をひくといけないのでキャンセルが相次ぎました。

シャル君はクラブのレインコートをお借りして、雨の中先生に運動させていただきました。

なぜなら翌日も雨でその次はクラブがお休み、火曜日は先生がお出かけで、立て続けて運動ができないからです。

レインコートのおかげでシャル君はまったく濡れないで運動できました。

１０時すぎには小雨になり、１１時からのレッスンは大丈夫でした。

The forecast called for rain starting in the afternoon on Saturday, but it began to fall around 8:30 am.

On rainy days, especially in the cold winter rain, it's important to avoid getting soaked and catching a cold for both horses and people, so there were many cancellations.

Sharu-kun was able to exercise with the instructor in the rain, thanks to borrowing a raincoat from the club.

This was because it was also going to rain the next day, and the club would be closed after that, followed by the instructor being away on Tuesday, meaning he wouldn't be able to exercise for several days in a row.

Thanks to the raincoat, Sharu-kun was able to exercise without getting wet at all.

By 10 am, the rain had lightened to a drizzle, and the lessons from 11 am onwards were fine.

あかずるの扱い方

いつも活けあがった花がきれいに写真に取れないことが残念です。

でも楽しく活けられました。あかずるの扱いは少し難しいと思いましたが、素材としてはとても

面白いと思います。

これから独創的な活け方を勉強していきたいです。

It's always disappointing that the flowers I arrange never seem to photograph as beautifully as they look.

But I had fun arranging them. I found handling the Akazuru a bit challenging, but as a material, it's very interesting.

I want to continue learning and experimenting with original ways of arranging flowers.
